Well it’s another Saturday night of NRL action and another Queensland team makes the road trip to Sydney’s West as the Parramatta Eels play host to the Brisbane Broncos. Join us for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEST.
After a solid if unspectacular display against the Cowboys last week that saw them just fall short against their more fancied opponents, the Parramatta Eels face another stiff test this evening against a Broncos side coming off their own tough loss to the high flying Rabbitohs.
The 2013 Season continues to be a work in progress for Ricky Stuart’s young Eels side, with some occasional flashes of brilliance intersected by sustained stretches of struggle. Whilst Stuart has decided to stick with the same 17 from last week, he would no doubt be hoping for a greater impact from some of his more experienced troops.
And, with Brett Stewart out of contention for Origin 1, Jarryd Hayne would go a long way to silencing his critics with a strong showing against a team boasting a number of QLD representatives.
For the Broncos on the other hand last week’s loss was a slightly disappointing footnote on what has been a solid month of football, and with star centre Justin Hodges returning for duty they will be confident of extending their good record at Parramatta Stadium.
Of special interest will be the performance of Brisbane fullback Corey Norman, who after having reconfirmed his commitment to the Eels from 2014 will be hoping for a good showing in front of his future fans.
Prediction
Whilst Parramatta have taken some small steps to redemption after their shellacking a few weeks ago against Penrith, a win against a strong Brisbane side is extremely optimistic.
The Broncos side, particularly in the forwards, is streets ahead of the blue and golds in experience who should in all likelihood lay the platform for a solid Brisbane win.
Still, after seeing the Storm knocked off at home last weekend you have to give Parramatta a chance in a two horse race.
I’m tipping the Broncos by 12.

Is Ashley Klein the worst ref ever!!! Has he not learnt from his debacles of the past that you CAN reverse penalties.

Exciting game mostly, however the refs pissed all over it both ways. Broncos are a shadow of their former selves.

I'm as frustrated with the Bronco's as most other fans, but I can't blame Griffin. The Broncs are lacking in attack, and all players are to blame. Wallace has no creativity, you look at a 7 like Cherry-Evans and he always looks dangerous with the ball, not Wallace - i refer to him as "shutdown", because thats what happens to most of plays when the ball is in his hands. I was Jack Reeds biggest fan 2 years ago, but enough is enough, learn to catch a ball and stop bombing tries. Hunt is a rubbish interchange player, McCullough's got to start controlling the game and start play 80 minutes, or don't bother... I could go on... Broncos just need to get a player with some X factor ability. Players like Barba and Cherry Evans, who have been missed by the Broncos. Are they missing the new crop now? Sack the recruiters, start finding these super stars before they get poached by Sydney.

we (broncos) are the most inpet attacking team in the comp . a hooker who cant get out of dummy half to get go forward . a half back who has utterly no idea how to control a game and is always getting caught by defenders and forced to rush . a coach who only EVER talks about "completing our sets of 6" ............doesnt he get it yet ?? we complete sets well every week and look where we are - the most talented negative team I have ever watched .........yes ever !! his non stop talk about defence has stifled the brilliance of the younger guys in ths club . he seems like a decent man but he MUST go . we have screwed up our search for top line ball players and he says in the paper that we are not looking anymnore ..........why the hell not ?? Paul White - we were quick to get rid of Henjak . Will we act quickly again on the hook ?? we havegone backwards in our strategy from the day he took over . negative , conservative rubbish is all we have served up for two years . Hey guys we have had enough ...............we wud rather lose with sparkle than complete our sets of 6 and not beable to beat teams we shud beat . We have a perfect number 9 playing in Q cup in Jake Granville . we desperately need a controller whi plays at 6 or 7 . Kevin Sinfield in England is a great plaer who wiud cost same as we offered Dugan I imagine ..........is he takenn ??? come on guys your members and fans are jack of it .

Commentators are talking up the field goal but I think the game was decided by the Broncos inept kicking. Outscoring Para 4 tries to 3 and only managing to convert 1.

80min Hodges chips from the scrum but it's covered by the Eels! Parramatta are surprise winners here tonight on the back of a freakish Jarryd Hayne field goal on half time Great game of football, I'm a little shocked really!
