West Coast Eagles vs Richmond: AFL live scores, blog

By Brodie / Roar Guru

Round 10 is finalised tonight as Richmond make the long journey west to take on the West Coast Eagles, who have been heating up in recent weeks. Join our live blog and scores from 7.40pm AEST.

These two teams have had perhaps the biggest bandwagons of all heading into this season.

So far the Eagles have fluttered and the Tigers have looked okay, but also disappointing.

The Tigers were embarrassed last week in the Dreamtime at the G match and if they want their spot back in the eight after this round they need to bounce back in this game.

It’s hard to see where the Tigers can take advantage of this Eagles team. So much again will rest on their impact star players such as Cotchin, Martin, Deledio and Riewoldt.

The Eagles meanwhile smacked the Giants and looked like themselves again after starting the season ice cold.

It would seem that the Eagles season resurrection has come hand in hand with the return of star ruckman Nic Naitanui.

His energy and ability around the play makes the Eagles look much more at home during a game. Not to mention the ability to free up Dean Cox is huge.

The Tigers have next week off while the Eagles travel to Melbourne to face the lowly Saints (you could almost say the Eagles have next week off too!).

You could say there is a lot at stake for both teams tonight so we should expect a fierce and ferocious contest.

Expect Richmond to have more of the ball as they rank sixth in disposals (bulk is uncontested) to West Coast’s 16th rank.

While Richmond has the advantage with the ball that should not worry West Coast, the AFL’s second-ranked tackling team.

Richmond must improve in tackles as they rank dead last in the AFL. Eventually not tackling becomes a problem no matter what game style you play.

West Coast’s big talls up forward loom large in this match. If Darling, Kennedy, Cox, NicNat and LeCras show up tonight say goodbye Richmond.

I’ll take West Coast purely for the fact they’re a better team all around.

A most unexpected score at the moment! Are the Eagles really playing as badly as the scoreboard claims, or have Richmond chucked on their Superman outfit after last week's Clarke Kent effort?
