It is said Paul Gallen stood up for his team on Wednesday night in giving Nate Myles the old ‘one-two’. Was this brave or was it the ultimate act of stupidity?

Gallen was quoted afterwards as saying that someone needed to step up and stand up to him.
Well good on you Paul but I’m sorry but no-one cares if Nate Myles pulled your leg or twisted your knee earlier in this match, let alone a couple of years ago.
At the time of this, the match was nearing half time and NSW were up 14-0. Yes, your team was well on top and in control.
Your side was ready to go into half-time and regroup for more of the same. Even the most parochial NSW fan admits he should have at least been sin-binned and where would this have left you?
There was no upside to this unprovoked attack other than an individual trying to seek some sort of personal revenge.

Even without any further punishment, all it did was give Queensland one last chance in attack to conclude the half and attempt to wake the sleeping dog.
If the referees had ruled as most think they should have, I’m sure all the articles today would have been about how stupid and selfish Gallen was.
This is not a first offence for him. NSW were on top in every area except leadership. Let’s just hope that Gallen’s actions don’t end up deciding the series…
