Adelaide Crows vs Sydney Swans: AFL live scores, blog

By TheSportsFreak / Roar Guru

A massive game on a Saturday afternoon at AAMI Stadium as the Adelaide Crows face the Sydney Swans. We’ll have live scores and commentary coming up from 4.40pm AEST.

The defending champions two weeks ago were being questioned heavily about their belonging inside the top echelon this season.

Since then, a convincing win against Collingwood at the MCG and a hard-fought victory at home against Essendon and the public’s view is that the champs are well and truly back.

And when you realise that Kurt Tippett is still to come into the line up, it’s a fairly scary proposition for any team coming up against them in the second half of the season.

Thankfully for Adelaide, they won’t have to worry about their former forward now, but there is others they need to seriously consider.

Josh Kennedy is hard to control through the midfield, the back line has held up strong in the last few weeks, while Adam Goodes just gets better and better.

Tommy Walsh’s injury was somewhat horrific, but to be replaced by Tom Mitchell and for him to step up so wonderfully sells the message of the Swans that they are finding top players everywhere.

They’ll travel to AAMI Stadium knowing that a win in the lead up to their bye with a chance to consolidate their top four spot.

The Adelaide Crows have started to find their mojo of late, but were just a kick away from a credible top four contender in Fremantle.

The loss finds them just outside the top eight, but serious contenders to push back in if they can get their winning edge back.

The intensity is almost there, if only for their tackling pressure which is still a fair way off the average for the competition.

Richard Douglas has been an important factor in the last few weeks, with his work in the midfield matched by his runs and pressure up forward.

He’ll need some of his midfield brigade to help out like Scott Thompson, Rory Sloane and 100-gamer Patrick Dangerfield.

But it’s up forward where the question marks were when they lost Tippett, and were forced to see Taylor Walker sit out the rest of the season with a knee injury.

They’ve had a patched-up version of the forward line led by Josh Jenkins, but he hasn’t been able to take matches by the scruff of the neck.

It could be performances of the likes of Jared Petrenko or Jason Porplyzia that gets the Crows over the line today.
