Frenchman Casty joins Sydney Roosters

By News / Wire

French international Remi Casty will join the NRL in 2014 after signing a two-year deal with the Sydney Roosters.

The move will reunite the rugged prop with Roosters mentor Trent Robinson, who coached Casty at English Super League club Catalans Dragons in 2011-12.

Under Robinson’s tutelage, Casty’s game lifted to new levels and he was named the French player of the year in 2011.

The 28-year-old, who played for France in the 2008 rugby league World Cup, will join the Roosters after this year’s World Cup in England.

“It’s my career achievement,” Casty said in a statement.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do since I started playing rugby.

“I’ve spent eight wonderful seasons at the Catalans Dragons. I’m very proud to have worn this jersey and I really want to thank the club to allow me to take this opportunity.”

Puig Aubert was the French fullback to whom you are referring.

Who was that French International back in the 50's who use to light up a smoke on the field and refused to tackle because that was a forward's job and he was a fullback? Man they where the good old days!!!!!!

Jake, Pleeeaaasse.....when was the last time Bradford won one of those 6 premierships?? Was Sam Burgess part of that premiership winning team?? Just because you google'd "Bradford bulls" doesn't mean you know what you're talking about....the fact you bring up every trophy they've won as some sort of relevance to how they are going now is ridiculous. It's like suggesting Parramatta are a great side because they won 4 premierships in the 80's!! I happen to actually follow and watch the ESL when I can. Catalans have finished above Bradford for the best part of the last 5 years... Trying to kick knowledge....seriously?!

Jake, when was the last time Mortimer played in the backs ?you were talking top 17,anyway,and he's in the top 17,apples and oranges ? Doesn't look like Luke Odonnell has another season in him, there's one space,JWH will always be on the brink of suspension and Moa has a history of injury.Fitzys doing a pretty good job coaching the forwards, the video shows some good skills, give him a chance !

Bradford an "average team"??? Please, you obviously know nothing of the ESL. I'd say 6 Premierships, 5 Challenge Cups and 3 World Club Chanpionships would be enough for them to be better than "average" in your eyes. SKD and Mortimer would both do better in the ESL than he will do in the NRL, I'll gaurantee that. Besides they are both backs, try to compare oranges with oranges. I doubt this Frog will ever be in the best 3 or 4 middle third forwards at the Roosters.

Daniel Mortimer did ...Sean Kenny D. 2013 ,now there's a VERY average player who made one of 'the best sides in the world '.think you might find a few of those 17 shipped out next year,Jake

Trent Robinson was also the coach of this "average team in an average comp".....funnily enough his coaching this so called best team you talk about. Sam Burgess was at Bradford....also an "average" team in an "average" comp. Give the bloke a chance.

This bloke plays off the bench for an average team in an average comp. My point is that I doubt he'll make the 17 for one of the best teams in the best comp in the world. That's "what's up".

I think Robinson and Smith know what they are doing. Hope he gets a chance in the NRL.

Gals 104,Tolman 103,won't take long to put a few k's on...quite a few guys start from the bench in particular Fifita,so what's up ?

I'm saying that I doubt he will even make the best 17 at the Roosters; he can't even start at the Catalans. Last time I saw him play he was 100kg (dripping wet) and just on 6ft. I doubt there is a smaller prop in the NRL.

Chill.... All I was saying is that Catalan is a French team not an English team. I suggest you ask him when he gets here !!!!!! He is a proud French player, there are plenty of them, untapped by nrl

Did someone say overreaction?!? An undersized prop who has played the majority of his games off the bench for an under performing team.

It's called the ESL. Just like the NRL is called the NRL. Do Kiwis care when the Warriors a called an NRL team?!? Get over it.

Decent prop, he's become significantly better in the last couple of years and should do well.

Is he anything like Sebas Chabal? I would have loved to see him try his hand at footy.
