Friday night lights are upon us again as we bask in the glory of St Kilda vs Hawthorn. Will it be a whitewash by the Hawks or can the Saints put up a fight? Join our live coverage and blog from 7.50pm AEST.
Hawthorn were gut-punched last week by the Tigers who’s midfield just demolished the Hawks.
It may just be me, but I wouldn’t want to come up against Hawthorn after this sort of a loss.
The loss of Hodgey and Buddy might hurt, sure, but the Hawks are still oozing class to cover these losses.
For the Saints this game is mostly about salvaging something for their season and seeing what they have in their young talent.
The Saints are bleeding men at the moment with Tom Simpkin (Leg), Rhys Stanley (Shoulder), Arryn Siposs (Shoulder), Ahmed Saad (Leg), Sam Dunell (Omitted) all missing this prime-time encounter.
Last time these teams met it was the Cyril Rioli show, with the small forward booting six goals.
I’d think it would be safe to mark him down for a few more goals tonight.
Thing’s which will be interesting to look at for a Hawthorn perspective include Jack Gunston’s 50th game, Roughead’s race for the Coleman medal and how their midfield go in the clearances.
If you go just off the statistics you would hope this would bring the Saints some hope right?
Unfortunately for the men from St Kilda this looks about as gloomy as it gets being outnumbered in pretty much every category.
I’d expect the Hawks to run out winners in this match by 60-plus – easily.
