St George Illawarra Dragons vs Parramatta Eels: NRL live scores

By Nigel Wakeley / Roar Guru

The bottom-dwellers face off tonight at Parramatta Stadium, with the Parramatta Eels hosting the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Both teams well out of finals contention and will be playing to avoid the wooden spoon, although Parramatta (four points behind) are more than likely to earn that title, with a point differential of negative 370.

A good deal of those negative points came last week when the Eels were humiliated by Melbourne Storm, losing by 60 points – the second biggest loss in club history.

The Eels actually scored first before Melbourne stormed home with 11 unanswered tries and a Billy Slater hat-trick.

St George also lost last week, 34-18 to Wests Tigers. They also scored first, but only were able to get across the line half as much as the Tigers, and now have the longest active losing streak in the NRL.

The Eels and Dragons last played in Round 10, in Josh Dugan’s first action with the red V. The Dragons took the lead in the first 90 seconds through a Trent Merrin try, and continued the domination to be up 20 points at halftime.

Josh Dugan scored twice for the Dragons and, despite two late consolation tries to Peni Terepo, the Eels lost handily 32-12.

There’s the potential for a different result tonight, as Eels coach Ricky Stuart was able to add a dynamic fullback of his own, Jarryd Hayne, back from injury.

Fuifui Moimoi also makes a return to the starting unit for Parramatta, with the Dragons top 13 unchanged.

Chip in your thoughts and get live scores on the Roar from 7pm.

In all my years of supporting the dragons, this is the worst team I've ever watched play for this proud jersey. The worrying fact is, the football skills across the whole game are poor and the game has become boring and over technical like Rugby Union. The cost to attend games is ridiculous and the quantity and quality is sadly lacking. Rugby League needs to do something quickly to revert back to the halcyon days I'm afraid. Boring boring Boring and loosing market at a rapid pace. Loved playing the game and I used to love watching a contest, but these pratts these days are killing this once great sport
