Where does an Aussie sports fan look for enjoyment?

It was a tough weekend for Australian sport. Everywhere we looked, Aussies were on the wrong end of the scoreboard.

1) The Wallabies got pumped by the Springboks. Now, if this was in South Africa, I could forgive the altitude issues or whatever.

But this wasn’t. This was in Brisbane and that’s what worries me. We are normally unbeatable at Suncorp Stadium.

Genia and Cooper were back in the halves and so was their combination, along with Folau at the back. All was meant to be great. All wasn’t great.

A poor defensive performance. Woeful in fact. I am questioning now if we can beat the Argies, particularly in Argentina.

2) The Socceroos were beaten 6-0 by the might of Brazil.

Now this was hardly a surprise, but all the same, I think it gives the football loving public something to mull over as we have less than 12 months to the World Cup itself.

We are, in reality, not world class…more like second or third-world class.

3) Vettel beat Webber into pole again in the Formula One.

4) Ash Barty and Casey Dellacqua were knocked over in the final of the US Open Women’s doubles. That said, only in their eight event, the Aussie girls have been runners-up in three of the year’s Grand Slams. Solid effort and hopefully bigger, better things to come in 2014.

Has anyone got some good news stories for me?
