I can’t think of a better way to end an exciting year of NRL than a Roosters versus Rabbitohs grand final. But for that to happen, there are a few things that need to take place.
Firstly, the Rabbitohs must beat the Storm this weekend. This will be a hard task, but considering that this is going to be a Souths home game I think they are definitely in with a chance.
Up next, the Roosters must then defeat Manly. Keep in mind that it’s a Roosters home game and they are coming off a great win other Souths last Friday, while Manly is coming off a poor effort loss against a ‘nothing to lose’ Penrith side.
Manly does look in form, but I feel losing some momentum might take its toll, along with a niggling injury complaints from a few of their players.
I’m well aware that the Roosters have lost one of their best props in Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, but they are also gaining Luke O’Donnell on the bench who should have an impact.
I can’t decide who will win out of Sharks and Cowboys, though I’m leaning towards the Cowboys with their current form. The winner’s prize will be playing a hungry Manly after their loss to the Roosters, so I can’t really see either of the sides giving the Eagles too much trouble.
Same goes for the Storm coming off a loss to the Bunnies. I can’t see the winner out of Bulldogs and Knights being too much of an issue for Melbourne.
So this leaves us with Roosters versus Storm and Rabbitohs versus Manly in the preliminary finals, and this is where it gets hard to tip.
Can the Roosters beat the Storm? They are playing after two weeks to train and recover from a big game against Manly, while Melbourne is backing up for the third week in a row yet have all the momentum.
For argument’s sake I’m going to go with the Roosters.
Now we have the same scenario with the Rabbitohs and Manly. After seeing the games these two teams have played this year already, I think the Rabbitohs will come out on top in this one to (hopefully) meet the Roosters in the grand final.
Now there is another way this could work out.
If both the Roosters and Rabbitohs lose to Manly and Storm respectively, then, considering they both win in week two, we’ll then have a Manly versus Rabbitohs and a Storm versus Roosters preliminaries round.
This could still see the grand final being played between Roosters and Rabbitohs, but I think this would be a less likely outcome and we’ll more than likely be blessed with a Manly/Storm GF.
I’m hoping it doesn’t go down like that. Its already been done back in 2008.
If either Easts or Souths lose in the first round while the other wins then they won’t be able to meet in the grand final, so we’ll be left seeing them come up against each other in the premlins.
Here’s to hoping things seem to go their way in the coming weeks.

Dylan, Dylan. These delusions no doubt come from the first signs of bird flu. Too much time spent scrambling for chicken feed in the coop I think. Try a ''Good but fortunate win'. A single lucky try does not justify 'completely outclassed'. Try your lexicon again.

It's funny how Roosters tipped your team upside down in the contention for the minor premiership. Burgess has been spoken to by his head coach about his antics on the field towards players. Now don't go talking smack about grub mate!. Roosters vs Storm or Roosters vs Souths GRANDFINAL.

That's your opinion. I totally disagree, Roosters have emerged from the bottom of the table too taking out the Minor Premiership. They deserve to be where they are right now. SBW is a great role model for the team and the club, a lot positive feedback has been spoken around the Roosters HQ and off the field. Don't hate the play buddy hate the game! it is what it is.

My apologies Freddy from Bondi. You are quite right. I was dreaming of another age when a potential 100,000 crowd could be accommodated. Shame, because I think they would get such a crowd to that match.

I am already predicting the comments after the Storm roll the Rabbits, the "cheating" posts will more than likely return.

Glenno - Souths have been pretty busy in the poaching department themselves and South Sydney is latte territory itself these days,I mean Mascot is hardly MT Druitt.

I think you'll find buying players does win you a premiership....Melbourne have only one local junior therefore the rest of the squad is 'bought'. Your point is invalid....
