After a fantastic start to the tie last night, Australia will be looking to wrap it up with a doubles win tonight against Poland. Join The Roar as we bring you live scores and a blog in this must win clash for Australia to get back into the world group.

In case you missed last night’s action, Australia started in the perfect way with two wins to Lleyton Hewitt and Bernard Tomic.

Hewitt breezed past Lukasz Kubot in a 6-1 6-3 6-2 win to put Australia 1-0 up in the tie.

Tomic then played some inspired tennis to defeat Michal Przyisezny 7-5 7-6 6-4 to hand Australia a perfect start to the tie.

Despite being concerned with the surface and his racquet, Tomic was able to serve fantastically and just be too strong for Przyieszny who replaced Jerzy Janowicz at the last minute.

Now we head to the doubles and a win by Australia would return it to the World Group for the first time since 2007.

Lleyton Hewitt and Chris Guccione were announced as the two to compete for Australia but I can reveal that Hewitt will not be used for the doubles clash after the teams’ great start.

Instead, young Australian Nick Kyrgios will make his debut for Australia as he partners Chris Guccione in the important tie.

Kyrgios is currently the World Number 1 in juniors and has had plenty of success in doubles in the juniors.

Earlier this year he won the Wimbledon boys doubles title with fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis; and was the winner of the French Open boys doubles title with another Australian, Andrew Harris, in 2012.

He also plays well on clay and defeated Radek Stepanek earlier this year in his debut in the men’s draw at the French Open.

It will be a big challenge for Kyrgios but the youngster relishes these occasions.

The news was confirmed on his official Facebook page early this morning with the young Aussie saying,

“Pumped to make my Davis cup debut tomorrow playing doubles with the Chris Guccione. Lets close this out,” he said.

He will partner Chris Guccione who has a fantastic record in doubles matches for Australia.

In eight matches for the Victorian, he has won all of them, combining with Hewitt for six of those win.

For both players, power will be the name of the game as both have powerful serves and powerful games.

They will need to be at the top of their game as they face one of the best doubles combinations in the game.

For Poland, they have picked the 7th best ranked ATP team in Mariusz Fyrstenberg & Marcin Matkowski for the important clash.

The combination is an experienced duo that has won 16 ATP titles and was the runner up in the 2011 doubles at the US Open.

They will be a stern test for the Australian duo and are the favourites for this match.

The doubles was always going to be a tough proposition for the Australians and no Hewitt leans the tie towards Poland.

While Kyrgios will be fantastic in this match, his experience will hurt the combination, which will be punished by Poland if Guccione and Kyrgios make mistakes.

I believe Australia can win one or two sets and make this a competitive match, but Poland with their experience as a combination will be too strong in the end.

Tip – Poland to win the doubles by 3 sets to 2.

Join me later tonight as I live blog the important clash and the debut of Nick Kyrgios.
