Sydney FC vs Adelaide United: A-League live scores, blog

By Alan / Roar Guru

Sydney FC and Adelaide United clash tonight in a game where both teams will be looking to bounce back from poor performances last week. Join us for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEDT.

Despite playing over a half of football with one extra man, Sydney still found a way to lose against 10 man Melbourne Heart last week.

Despite taking a narrow 1-0 lead into the break, Sydney produced a poor second half against a Heart outfit that showcased true courage and commitment to come from behind and secure a famous win.

Sydney’s build-up in attack last week was incredibly slow, particularly in the second half, where they didn’t look like threatening against the opposition.

Not even Alessandro Del Piero, who played 90 minutes, could muster the magic needed to lead Sydney to victory against Melbourne.

After smashing the Melbourne Victory a fortnight ago, the pressure is now back on Frank Farina to change Sydney’s fortunes when they host Adelaide tonight.

Adelaide was well outplayed by the Welllington Phoenix last week, with the 2-1 scoreline flattering the Reds.

Wellington could have easily won by three or four goals but the woodwork kept Adelaide in the contest, particularly in the first half.

Like Sydney, Adelaide hardly created any goal scoring chances in the second half against Wellington and really need to show a lot more urgency when in possession.

There is no use in dominating possession if a team is unable to create any chances, and this was certainly the case for Adelaide last week against Wellington in the second half.

Attacking stars Jeronimo Neumann, Marcelo Carrusca and Bruce Djite were all very quite in attack and need to make their presence felt tonight against Sydney.

With both teams failing to produce the goods in attack last week, expect both sides to come out firing in a bid to really find some form while in possession.

A win for either side tonight will go a long way to securing a place in the A-League finals, with Sydney and Adelaide fifth and sixth on the ladder respectively.

On form, it is hard to separate these two outfits given what they showed last week so a score draw looks the most likely option here.

Sydney and Adelaide to draw 1-1.

The club are saying they didn't ask for anybody to be removed or signs to be taken down. What exactly is your issue with management? Be honest, you are just not happy with results. Prior to this match the club emailed members inviting them to attend a q&a session as well as an outline of a new strategic plan. Wouldnt it be best to hear what they have to say first before the huffing and puffing? My membership this year was very reasonably priced, included public transport for free, allowed me to see a $2m per season superstar each week. Yes I think the coaching and recruiting has been poor and I am sure will be cut at seasons end for it, but management of sydney fc is very good compared to.most clubs. Your issue is simply results and to carry on the way the cove did tonight is really short sighted and harsh on individuals who also work hard and are passionate about the club.

Adelaide have bounced back big time here against Sydney FC, winning 3 nil here over a wasterful Sydney FC that did create chances. Adelaide though far more clinical in attack with Ferreira, Djite, Carrusca and Jeronimo all very sharp in attack. Plenty to talk about on and off the field for Sydney. Will Farina survive next week? Three losses in a row for Sydney at home.... storm clouds brewing in the harbour city. Join me later for the Premier League blockbuster with Liverpool - Arsenal at 11.45pm tonight. Thank you to all who followed. Sydney 0 Adelaide 3

As a fan watching sydney FC it just sucks the life out of you. 7 points out of a possible 30 (3 of those points courtesy of the worst ever penalty from H.Kewell). Time to go Frank.

83' - This could get ugly for Sydney in the last 7 minutes or so. Adelaide will move above Sydney on to 5th place on the A-League ladder. Sydney could drop out of the top six now if results go against them tomorrow. Sydney 0 Adelaide 3

It is true, confirmed by Brendan himself. We've supported the club through thick and thin, and this is what we get in return. Am not sitting in the Cove this week, had tickets for a Corporate box given to me, such a dark, dark night.

Jeronimo with the easiest of tap-ins for 3 nil. Good triangle move from Adelaide results in an easy goal. Sydney FC despite their efforts now being skinned here. Sydney 0 Adelaide 3
