Don't risk injured players

By Arthur Pagonis / Roar Guru

Kevin Pietersen is gone and Shane Watson is hurt, again.

They fired Alex Rodriguez. They fired Barry Bonds. They got rid of Lance Armstrong.

They find out who the troublemakers are in all sports and kick them out of the game.

Because in one way, shape, or form, they are cheating the game, their team and themselves – sometimes they need to learn to appreciate who the boss is.

Maybe Boof and Cricket Australia will get the message one day.

Shaun Marsh doesn’t look 100% to me, yet CA and the Boof have resisted every opportunity to put the record right with Shane Watson and replaced him with a player who clearly is not 100%.

Next they’ll call in George Bailey.

No, couldn’t do that! He’s just a cricketing hero and captain of an Australian team.

But he’s hurt also, so why Shaun Marsh?

You see what I’m saying?

Bailey and Marsh should rest. Shane Watson should rest.

They need to get fit and healthy, then come back when they are in form.

Is it the end of the world if Watson, Bailey and Marsh miss this tour?

The ECB kicked KP out and they boot anyone who goes beyond the pale. They don’t risk injured players. They are not sentimentalists.

They are disciplined and firm and don’t close the door to a player forever. That’s what CA should be doing.

Watson, Marsh and Bailey are undeniably, irrefutably hurt.

Do away with rotation – pick fit individuals for Test Match cricket, and be wary about playing hurt people in limited overs cricket too.

Changing a winning team?

No, just preparing more great young people to play for Australia when injury occurs.

It is Nobody’s fault they are hurt. Deal with the realities and don’t show the rest of the world that you will risk an injured player because you fear his replacement will fail.

Time to spread the opportunity and set a good example, Boof.

Completely agree with you main point, ' ... pick fit individuals for Test Match cricket ... ', give others a go to build depth. Not so sure about the ECB and KP references though. ;-)
