Chelsea FC vs PSG: UEFA Champions League live scores, blog

By Alan / Roar Guru

Chelsea have it all to do tonight as they look to overturn a 3-1 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of this Champions League quarter-final. Join us for live scores and commentary from 4.45am AEST.

A very late Javier Pastore goal in the first leg has left PSG in a commanding position heading into tonight’s second leg match-up at Stamford Bridge.

Although Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out injured, PSG’s depth upfront is superb to say the least, with Ezequiel Lavezzi and Lucas Moura both in terrific form.

A fit and firing Edison Cavani will also cause plenty of problems for Chelsea, who can ill-afford to concede an away goal tonight.

Chelsea now find themselves out of their comfort zone and will need to commit numbers forward against a very dangerous PSG outfit.

Even if Eden Hazard and company fire in attack for Chelsea, the home side still has to make sure they don’t concede any goals themselves – a task that could prove impossible.

The present form of Moura and Lavezzi in particular spells major trouble for Chelsea. These two players will tear Chelsea apart on the counter if the hosts press too high up the pitch.

Throw in the enigmatic but hugely talented Pastore and Cavani into the mix and PSG certainly possess the weaponry to put this tie to bed.

With Chelsea needing at least two goals to get back into this tie, tonight’s contest promises to a highly entertaining and open affair.

Chelsea firmly have their backs against the wall, but the London club invariably rises to the occasion at Stamford Bridge and should be expected to do so here.

Prediction
While Chelsea will give a good account of themselves, the amount of strike power at PSG’s disposal should see them score the away goals they need to qualify for the semi-finals.

PSG and Chelsea to draw 2-2.

Incredible couple of weeks of UCL and that was only the quarters! Ideally I would like to see Bayern and Chelsea play out a replay of the 2012 final and a Madrid Derby. Even Real v Chelsea would be amazing. Find it hilarious that they're having yet another draw for the semis but can't wait either way.

Did anyone think PSG failed misserabley to " kill off" or " hold the ball" for the last 10? I was watching an wondering why the hell are they foraying forward with 10 to go and a 1 goal lead?

Another famous night at the Bridge. Chelsea still contenders for the cup I watched the Dortmund v Real match instead and wow what an encounter. The far less fancied Dortmund side put the superstars of Real to the sword. Dortmund were very unlucky not to be up 4-0 at the hour mark. It was a truly amazing performance considering the injuries they've been hit with this season. They worked the ball around at a spectacular pace and pressed hard for 90mins. It goes without saying that the atmosphere was deafening throughout. Really hope Dortmund do everything they can to hold on to Reus. As a boyhood fan of the club I hope he shuns the big money being thrown at him and stays loyal to the black and yellow.

Away goals. They score 1 in Paris, while PSG did not score in London.

Chelsea once again overturn a deficit at Stamford Bridge, beating PSG 2 nil to progress to another semi-final. Chelsea will be very difficult to stop now. They are just so strong at Stamford Bridge its not funny. Chelsea deserved the win and created plenty of chances tonight. Schurrle superb for Chelsea after coming on for Hazard. Ba then came on and scored the winner. PSG had only the one real chance of note that fell to Cavani in the second half but the Uruguayan failed to convert. Mourinho once again produces the goods when it counts. PSG once again with a painful defeat at the quarter-final stage. Thanks for your company tonight and join us tomorrow for Bayern - United Chelsea 2 PSG 0

91' - Don't know how PSG will score here. Alex heads straight to Cech who has only been forced into one save here. Cavani of course had a great chance to put the tie to bed. What a miss that is proving to be! Chelsea 2 PSG 0
