Wests Tigers vs North Queensland Cowboys: NRL live scores

By The Roar / Editor

The Wests Tigers host the North Queensland Cowboys in their first game at the revered ground of Campbelltown Oval for the year. Join us on The Roar for all the live scores and banter from 7:30pm AEST.

The Cowboys will be confident they can begin to turn their season around after a strong defensive performance last week against Newcastle. With both the Knights and Cowboys struggling so far this season, it was a very important win for a side that was fancied as a top-four side before the season started.

28-2 was an emphatic result, and they will need a similar performance from their dynamic halves pairing of Robert Lui and Johnathan Thurston if they are to get over the Tigers in front of the raucous Campbelltown crowd.

They key to beating the Tigers will surely be giving the former Tiger Lui a platform from which to work his magic. Last year’s star backrower Scott Bolton will want to step up and provide that after looking a little off his game in the past couple of weeks. Gavin Cooper and Matt Scott, who have been oddly off their games, will also be hunting for big metres and making an impact in the tackles.

One of the biggest difficulties of this year so far is reconciling the squad the Tigers have at their disposal and the injuries they’ve suffered with their position on the table.

Currently fourth on six points, and in a very congested position on the log, a win here will propel them to a 4-2 record and a lock on a top four spot.

Who would have thought that before the season kicked off. No Galloway. No Benji Marshall. Injuries hitting them hard. Yet they’ve outperformed all expectations and will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a very hot and cold Cowboys side.

In team news, there’s no Braith Anasta for the Tigers after the five-eighth copped a two-week ban for a shoulder charge on David Williams. Amazingly, it was the first suspension of the resurgent veteran’s career.

For the Cowboys, their side remains mostly intact from last week. They’ll be looking for a big impact from prospective Blues forward Tariq Sims at lock.

Another good win for the Tigers, although at what cost with Farah dislocating his elbow? Jeez, as a Tigers supporter I'd really love to see the team make it all the way through a game without an injury.....
