NRL to investigate Hurrell sex tape

By News / Wire

The NRL Integrity Unit is investigating a sex tape involving NRL star Konrad Hurrell.

A video reportedly depicting Warriors player Hurrell driving while engaged in a sex act surfaced on the internet on Sunday night.

It appears the video was filmed on a phone and circulated on social messaging service Instagram before being deleted.

New Zealand actress Teuila Blakely confirmed she was the woman in the video.

“Yeah it was me, but it was a private video between me and Koni and it wasn’t meant to have been leaked,” the 39-year-old star of Shortland St told the New Zealand Herald.

Blakely said the film was taken two months ago and Hurrell sent it to a friend on Snapchat, an app which allows users to send photos and videos which are then automatically deleted after a short period of time.

She said she did not know who uploaded the video onto the internet.

The Warriors said they were investigating the matter.

NRL chief operating officer Jim Doyle said the league’s integrity unit was looking into the incident and was waiting for the Warriors to report back.

“All I am going to say is that I am aware of it,” Doyle said at the launch of the NRL Women In League round on Monday.

“Driving here to this function we were made aware that there is something there but we are following up on it now. We don’t have any other knowledge.”

I'm with the storm in a tea cup crowd. Consenting adults, not commiting a crime and video leaked by a third party. Can't agree with those questioning Hurrell's form. Easily the best Warriors attacker in the games he's played and if poor defence was a reason to be dropped from this team, they'd be struggling to select a 17.

When the media make storm in tea cups from something like this, there will always be something for the NRL to worry about. I worry about this guy though, he has a ton of talent but the lift pulls up short of the top floow when it comes to the brains department. What a wonderfiul asset he would be if managed correctly. The warriors frustrate me big time.

Once again people not getting it over social media, once you post it you have lost control of it. A silly thing to film it, but as he didn't upload it, how can he be held responsible. For me it is an internal matter for the Warriors. When you think of it the Warriors have less such problems than a lot of other clubs. Note who they are playing this weekend, the Raiders, and I don't blame the Raiders either for Dugan and Fergusson, even Wightons post was not a good look. I actually think it was more disrespectful than Konrads. I suspect his punishment will come from the crowds. Konrad is like any a lot of these young guys who don't get the risk of social media. This will soon blow over (Sorry)

Not seen the video but unless he was wearing his Warriors gear at the time then it has nothing to do with the NRL.

Meh, not worried about this really. Yes, it is a bad image, but it is (as far as well are aware) consensual. Although it is unsafe to do whilst driving, other than that it is completely legal. But the thing I don't get is... If you want to keep things "private", why video it?

Should she lose her job as well? she is an adult and was a willing participant in the video - she has a job on a local tv show but no one mentions her position

Am I alone in wondering what sort of idiot films himself getting a blowie, then sends it to a mate. If breathing wasn't a reflex action some of these clowns would be dead.

Jay C has no idea And I'm pretty sure leaking of a private tape is illegal under the revenge tape/pic act that is new and could be charged

That'd be great Steve, never make players take responsibility for their actions. The Warriors need that attitude right now...oh wait that;'s their problem isn't it.

And this is why Matty Elliott had him playing park footy. The journo's were crying for Matty's blood, much like Kearney's blood they called for as a result of the NZ rep team selection. I'm sick of journalists denegrating the game and trying to run agenda's. Matt did the right thing, if he was at fault, it was that he never gave him the boot altogether. He is a good footballer, but needs an attitude adjustment. He is full of his own importance. The warriors now need to come out and give him the boot, and take some hard decisions and boot many of the current team. They are full of selfish players with bad attitudes. Someone please take control of this team. Maybe it's time to give Kearney the reins. Teams that win premierships have a no ****head policy, this team is choc full of them.

youre deluded there mate. This job is in the public eye and sponsors and corporate partners that keep the game on its feet has its own reputation to maintain. Its all about image and if you want financial support then you need to uphold a reputation-its not only about what the fans expect.

Get over it. Jeez. If everyone got sacked from their jobs because they made a bit of phonography there wouldn't be anyone under 25 in the workforce.

Hurell should be sacked. Its bad enough he plays $hit. This should be the nail in the coffin. He sent it so there was some sort of intention to have it leaked. This is just downright sleazy, classless and an embarrassment not only to the code but to the Polynesian community.
