Injured Daly Cherry-Evans in doubt for this weekend's NRL match

By The Roar / Editor

Maroon’s star Daly Cherry-Evans is set to miss this weekend’s match for the Manly Sea Eagles and is in doubt for Origin II after sustaining a hip injury in last night’s thrilling State of Origin opener.

Cherry-Evans, who replaced the injured Cooper Cronk in the tenth minute of the match – won by the Blues 12-8 – has been in superb form this season, with many suggesting he is the competition’s most in-form player.

Nah! NSW always look for some external reason for their losses....... Refs biased, Miles plays too rough, Inglis not eligable etc etc etc. Best to look internally at performances, identify weak links and fix.

LOL QLDers always saying us NSWelshmen bag our players and should stick by them. Well, DCE played well the other night. His teammates let him down by not running with him. If Mal is too stupid to do a bit of training with DCE at halfback as preparation then that is just ridiculous.

Cherry Evans, excels at Club Level but dismal failure for Queensland. The regular chest beaters who push the Cherry Evans barrow seen clearly last night that Cronk controls a game and directs the troops around the park creating opportunities for his outside men. Cherry Evans finally got his shot at the prize and blew it. He is not up to it.

milford, ben hunt and corey norman coming into contention. The myth of QLD depth in the halves is disappearing

Pretty poor performance by DCE last night. If he can't train with the squad for Origin 2 and learn the plays, shouldn't be there. Didn't rise to the challenge at all last night.

DCE has been off the boil in his past two club games and continued that form last night. Was he was carrying that hip injury all along.

If you have the guy in as a reserve halfback and your starting halfback gets injured...well, you'd think he'd play halfback when he comes on, wouldn't you? Bizarre.
