Marinko Matosevic has finally won a Grand Slam match! With this under his belt can Matosevic can go for two in a row against the classy Andy Murray as Australia yet again takes on England at the second round of Roland Garros.

In his 13th attempt at passing the first round, he defeated Dustin Brown in four sets in a very tight match. Now ranked 66 in the world, Matosevic is a better player than his performances suggest and now with the confidence of winning a match at a major, he will go in as underdog but may have a chance to defeat the great Andy Murray.
Murray won his first round match in four sets against Andrey Golubev and enters the tournament as the seventh seed in France.
After an interesting few months of frustration and injury, Murray looks to be finding form however clay is his least favourite surface and with not many matches under his belt if Matosevic can win the opening set he might be a chance.
However against these top players you simply must win the first set. Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray are the players they are because they are continually consistent across all surfaces and all venues.
In Andy’s case, he is a great fighter with consistent groundstrokes as he pushes players into errors through dragging out the points to the point where he makes the game a battle of both mental and physical fitness.

Game, Set and Match - Andy Murray. There it is for the seventh seed! A massive backhand return winner cross court gives him the victory in a convincing display over Marinko Matosevic. Murray was excellent from the outset breaking Matosevic early in every set and always having the lead and looking in control. For Matosevic well this will be a great experience for him. He tried his hardest but Murray was too good and although he tested Murray, he was only able to break his opponent once when the match was nearly complete. Andy Murray will now move on to the third round here at Roland Garros where he will play on Saturday Night AEST. Game - Murray. Well by far the longest game of the match so far. Murray converts his fifth break point chance of the game to take the break into the rest of the final set. Matosevic continues to try hard but in the big points Murray continues to look the better player and the better ball striker. That being said Andy has also looked brilliant on defence as well as offence today, as Matosevic has not had many free points at all as Andy continues to grind out the match against him. He got the break early before pressing the Matosevic serve for the rest of the set eventually breaking him again and seeing off any challenge from Matosevic with clinical serving at the right time.
