[VIDEO] Melbourne Demons vs Collingwood Magpies: AFL live scores, blog, highlights

The Melbourne Demons‘ stocks are rising, but they will be put to the test in a big way when they host a Collingwood Magpies outfit looking to secure a top four spot. Join The Roar for live scores from 3:20pm (AEST).

The positive impact of placing Paul Roos at the helm of a once wayward Demons outfit is starting to be truly felt.

Melbourne have put forward some strong performances in recent weeks, and despite not all securing premiership points, they have inspired belief in their fans, and more importantly, themselves.

The Dees welcome Chris Dawes back into their forward line for this clash – the former Pie will be fired up against his old side, and could provide the spark Melbourne require for an upset.

Collingwood have been tracking along nicely in 2014 and this match offers them the chance to move into fourth on the ladder.

Although they lose the class of Steele Sidebottom (who will watch from the sidelines for the next few weeks following a rough bump last round), Collingwood welcome back Brownlow medalist, Dane Swan – a player who revels in big games. Swan racked up 39 touches in the corresponding fixture last year and a monster 42 disposals in 2012.

The Magpie army will be out in force for this Queens Birthday clash, and unless the Demons have a good plan for stopping Swan, he’ll surely give them lots to cheer about today.

In Round 11 last season, the Magpies thumped the Demons 122 to 39. In fact, we have to look back to 2010 to find the last time the Demons earned some points against the Pies – but on that occasion it was still only a draw.

The big crowd and a couple of fired up sides will make for a high intensity and entertaining clash on the ‘G today. We can expect the Demons to push the Magpies, but a victory looks like too much of a task.

Collingwood by 24.

Full Time, Collingwood by 33 Points! The Dees played the game like Swans of the mid 2000's. The Collingwood midfield weren't allowed the room they're used to, however they had the experience to make the right decisions. Collingwood look happy, but Demons can be proud, not many teams would hold the Pies to 60 points. Melbourne : 3. 10. 28 Collingwood: 8. 13. 61

Beams is in a foot race with Daniel Cross, Beams wins but misses. It's bitter sweet for the Magpie. Dees passing the footy around, with one eye on their Super coach scores.

The Commentars flaunt their vocabulary - (Man with a blue and red mohawk) -"He's not your atypical Melbourne supporter". Well, I've met a few Dees fans and none of them had a similar haircut. Maybe my evidence is anecdotal, or they meant typical. Either way Beams has given the Dees defense the rrun around but Kennedy Harris cleans up for the Demons.

Bernie Vince pauses with the ball in the dead centre of the field, the Collingwood midfielders mimic him and he gets away. His kick inside 50 is marked by a Magpie.

Jetta splits the Collingwood defense with some quick feet. Vince to how, who hits Viney! Needs to slot this for some confidence... The Magpies defense fumble their way to a behind. Beams with a tear away sprint, his kick hits Cloke. This time he kicks truly and it never looked like missing. 28- 59. Pies way

Cloke marks on the lead 60 out. He's going to go for goal but surely he wont make this distance. It's spoiled over the line 27-53. 10 minutes to go.

Dees are 4 kicks from the lead, but at moment it'd be more realistically 19 kicks. Dunn marks in the defense (again) and the Dee's have locked the ball on the wing.

Jack Watts with a quick chance but his shot is more of an attempt by a 1 armed archer than a professional rifleman. They close the gap though, 20 point lead to the Pies.

Marley Williams head butts Kennedy Harris and is paid a free kick, what an actor. Pederson with a mark just outside of the Dees 50. Kennedy Harris has an opportunity to repay the goal he gave away. It's a tight angle and he misses. 21 point lead

Start of the fourth quarter, Dees need to close the 16 point gap. Collingwood get the ball into the 50 early and now Beams has a set shot from 50. Beams kicks through the ball and its goal! Pies by 22 points.

The dees tired defense can't seem to keep up, as Luke Ball marks after coming on for Fasolo. Elliot is given the responsibillity after Luke Ball passes, Elliot misses to the right. Collingwood by 10 points.. Kennedy-Harris ON, Jamar OFF. The Kennedy Harris fumbles a simple mark and Beams feeds on it, Collingwood goal! 16 point lead to the Pies.

Bernie Vince has nailed a shot from 50, after Jetta marks. It's a goal but it wont stand and it will have to come back. Jetta misses. Not sure why it wasn't play on.

Matt Jones steps more than a couple of pies defenders but his kick hit's Lumumba like a heat seeking missile. Goldsack has a one on one, but the Dee's defence holds firm. Collingwood get a point on the board, which may seem insignificant, but the team that wins today mightn't have to kick more than 50 points.

Natahn Jones nonchalantly pumps the ball in the Dees 50. BernieV ince cheekily chips the pies defender and it's a goal. Pies lead 32 - 23
