Swan Tippett needs surgery, out for two

By News / Wire

Sydney star Kurt Tippett has undergone knee surgery and will miss Saturday’s AFL clash with ladder-leading Port Adelaide.

Tippett suffered the injury in the Swans’ last-start win over Gold Coast, and will miss two matches as he recovers from a minor cartilage tear in his left knee.

“He’s having an arthroscope today,” Swans coach John Longmire told the club website on Tuesday.

“They’ll trim a little bit of cartilage that’s just been catching.

“It’s a minor operation and he will miss two games and will likely be back in three weeks’ time.”

The premiership favourites face the Power at the SCG this weekend, then Richmond next Friday at the MCG.

Tippett’s productive forward-line partnership with Lance Franklin has been a major factor in the Swans’ recent rise up the ladder.

Tippett made a late start to the season due to knee tendonitis then a broken rib, but has since played four games and booted five goals on the Swans’ 110-point demolition of Geelong.

I believe that with the Port Adelaide and Sydney Swans game, Port Adelaide need to stay focussed, stay strong, stay united as a team and work together with this game and with Tippett out for Sydney, it gives them a chance in this game to really come through with the game! With Lance Franklin in the side, the power need to really defend him and stop their openings in getting the ball to him and scoring goals through him, The Power need to open up their corridor, have a man always there and really come out firing against the Sydney Side!!!! They need to watch their kicking, ball passing, corridor passing and openings and all their kickings as well and really tackle them and stop their players and really defend!!! Keep pressure on Power!!! Good Luck Port Power!!
