The Cowboys form on the road continues its horrid run with an unsuccessful trip to Hunter Stadium, going down 36-28 to an out of form Newcastle Knights side.

These sides last met in Round 5, a match the Cowboys won 28-2.
The Knights are currently struggling at the bottom of the NRL ladder, and are wondering if their season can get any worse. After scandals with ownership, a jailing and the Alex McKinnon tragedy, the Newcastle players are clearly distracted.
The Cowboys have had a mixed season so far, and are yet to win in NSW. They are currently in 11th place, needing a win to stay in the mix for the top eight.
Newcastle’s Origin stars Darius Boyd and Beau Scott have been named in the side, along with returning centre BJ Leliua. Jake Mamo and Travis Waddell have dropped out of the side, with Clint Newtown the 19th man. Reports suggest halfback Tyrone Roberts has also been dropped, with Kurt Gidley moving to five-eighth.
For the Cowboys, Johnathan Thurston and James Tamou will back up after Origin, with Matt Scott and Brent Tate out with injuries sustained in Game 2.
The Knights will enter this match favourites at home, off the back of the Cowboys terrible road record and Newcastle fielding their strongest team of recent rounds.
However, a Cowboys side led by a fired-up Johnathan Thurston could be enough to keep the Knights losing streak rolling on, and for the Cowboys to finally break their run of poor form south of the border.
