Suarez, not FIFA, is to blame

By Daniel Nichols / Roar Guru

Unfortunately Luis Suarez is once again in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, having being suspended from all footballing activities for four months after being found guilty of biting.

Uruguayan media outlets have blasted FIFA for their decision. The UFA has launched an appeal, while Liverpool fans are crying foul that their best player has been ‘unfairly’ suspended for club matches.

Simply out, they’re aiming their anger at the wrong people.

Their anger should be directed at the man responsible for the act – Suarez himself.

For the third time in his career, Suarez – the EPL’s player of the year – has been found guilty of biting an opponent.

There is absolutely no doubt that he bit Giorgio Chiellini late in Uruguay versus Italy Game two nights ago.

The footage is clear as day and Suarez knew it as soon as he went to ground, but in something that unfortunately become a trademark for the Liverpool superstar, he immediately diverted blame elsewhere.

After claiming that he has been unfairly targeted by the English media, Suarez did the unthinkable, and took a piece out of yet another defender’s torso in front of a worldwide audience.

FIFA did not deliver a huge blow to Uruguay’s chances of advancing further in this World Cup, Suarez did.

FIFA did not take away Liverpool’s main man for their first 13 fixtures of the 2014/15 season, Suarez did.

It must be pure coincidence that the media is always there when Suarez acts up?

He is a product of his society where win at any cost is the accepted norm. He may take it a little further, i suspect he isn't too bright, but given the praise he received post 2010 and that his own views are reflected back at him by the entire country his behavior is hardly surprising. Uruguay itself need to wake up and reform their attitude. Instead of defending his action they should bemoan what his loss represents to the team, elimination. If our best player got himself rubbed out like that he'd be persona non grata.

Luis is obviously guilty of biting. It had to be a moment of madness, but in his defence, I feel he was provoked by the Italian, who appeared to elbow him in the face. But the bite mark is clearly visible on the left shoulder. A great shame, because he's without question, one of the most brilliant players in the game of Football, today. The one thing that really irritates me about the current Football World Cup, is the vast number of countries playing in an all-white kit. White shirt, white shorts, white socks. Everything white !!!! Just ridiculous !!!! Apart from being the most boring colour imaginable, it utterly strips and destroys that particular country's national identity. Bizarrely, depriving them of the glory of proudly wearing the national colours.. Of the four of the most recent matches, every single one, had one team wearing that stupid, boring all-white kit !!!! What idiot came up with this crazy and witless idea ?

He really should be banned for longer.. maybe 2 years or so. That might force him to seek help and change his behaviour. The human bite can pass on proper nasty diseases/viruses, Hepatitus and HIV being amongst them.. These illnesses would end careers. Any biting, let alone habitual, should be treated with the strictest disciplinary measures. Usually this sort of behaviour is dealt with in primary school.

People are all like "he needs to grow up", which is not the problem. He obviously has a deep psychological problem, probably something to do with his history. It isn't as simple as "grow up and get over it". Banning him just seems really stupid, didn't stop him before, so how will it stop him now.
