[VIDEO] Brisbane Broncos vs New Zealand Warriors: NRL highlights, scores, blog

By Alan / Roar Guru

A very entertaining contest awaits as the Brisbane Broncos host the in-form New Zealand Warriors. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEST.

After a poor start to the season, the Warriors have recovered superbly and are firming as dark horses for the premiership following three straight wins.

The Warriors are coming off a thumping 48-nil victory over the Eels and now face a Broncos outfit they defeated just three weeks earlier.

Brisbane meanwhile have lost their past three matches and are also backing up from Monday’s heartbreaking one-point defeat to the Panthers. If the Broncos defend like they did on Monday, the Warriors could easily put on a score.

Brisbane will be hoping Ben Barba improves significantly on his performance against Penrith. The former Dally M winner has really struggled to find his match-winning form of 2012 and needs to start firing.

Barba’s opposite Sam Tomkins however is enjoying his best period at the Warriors. He was superb against the Eels last week, scoring two tries and having a hand in several others.

Shaun Johnson is also enjoying a good purple patch. If the Broncos allow him to dictate terms, the Warriors will pile on the points.

For the Broncos to stand a chance, their forwards will have to dominate. When they do, the Broncos can be a menacing side to play against it as evidenced by their great win over Manly several weeks back.

When the Broncos turn up with strong intensity and play direct, they rank as one of the toughest sides to beat in the NRL.

It’s certainly going to take a complete performance from the home side to defeat a Warriors team oozing confidence.

Warriors by 12.

Nope. Thaiday was more than likely to make the tackle without Parker. If there's no certainty it can't be ruled penalty try. 10 in the bin maybe though.

Apologies. To be honest it was quite a poor game. The Warriors dominated the opening stanza and looked like they would take the game. A couple of bad calls later and the broncos made the most of it. For the next 60 mins both teams were rubbish but managed to score points and by the end of the game the broncos were in front and won. As a Warriors supporter I'm really disappointed about tonight's result. For once I had been impressed with how they were playing and felt they had turned the corner but alas they reverted back to the Warriors of old. It was a loose game and neither team will be happy with how they played but on this occasion the broncs got the 2 points and congrats. Take it away Nordburg, your time to let me have it is now haha

Not sure but they could be the first team to average 50 points a game if they all get along.

Some personality clash or something. Bad news for Vidot, Oates and Reed. All their replacements were solid.

Gee, I bet if the broncs could turn back time they would have offered Hoffman Barba's contract and Barba, Hoffmann's. So where does Barba play when Milford arrives???

Broncos have got two giant Monkeys to throw off their backs over the next two weeks. Time to stand up to Melbourne and Manly.

Hunt, Copley, Hoffman, Parker, Hannant and Maranta all had blinders. Certainly Hoffman's best game of the season. Barba looked more dangerous tonight at 5/8th as well.

Can someone tell me why, exactly, Ben Hannant was out of favour not so long ago? The Polar Bear was great tonight, Ben Hunt terrific and Lachy Maranta simply superb under the high ball. Broncos are still alive!

Soul crushing defeat, broncos tries came from basic mistakes. However, the positive is that those mistakes are can be easily rectified. Really disappointed with johnson tonight i was screaming for him to get involved and lead us to victory against a genuine opposition. Oh well warriors never cease to amaze me, bring on manly.

Wow! What an epic! The only game better than this one this season was the Souths v Warriors game in Perth. They clearly bring the best out of the opposition. Warriors still to make the top 4 and Hook's decision to drop 3 players vindicated by one of their best performances all season. Hunt excellent, Copley a thoroughbred and the often unfairly-maligned Lachlan Maranta Folau-like under the high ball. I quite like rugby league...

Warriors got the wrong end of the calls tonight, but the missed tackles were the killer.

In all seriousness it was a good game, Broncos were very enthusiastic in defense, something which the Warriors lacked at times along with execution at the line.
