[VIDEO] Chelsea vs Swansea: EPL highlights, scores, blog

By Jack O'Toole / Roar Guru

MATCH RESULT:

Poor for twenty minutes and scintillating for 70 minutes. After a slow start, Chelsea showed much of the same ruthlessness that saw them put six past Everton last weekend.

Hazard, Fabregas and Costa all looked phenomenal and were at the heart of everything Chelsea did going forward.

Hazard was, in my opinion, best on ground as his runs and interplay with Cesc Fabregas, which proved to be devastating.

Oscar started to get into the game as it went on and played big parts in the final two goals assisting on Loic Remy’s debut goal.

Remy and Salah both looked dangerous when they came on and took full advantage of some tired Swansea legs.

Mourinho will not be happy with another late defensive lapse but he will be pleased with Chelsea’s attack which ranks as the best in the Premier League and even amongst the best in world football.

Chelsea make it four form four and sit a top of the Premier League table. Judging by their start to the season it will be very tough for any side to displace the Londoners.

Chelsea head to Manchester City next week in what is to be a blockbuster clash at the Etihad Stadium.

FINAL SCORE:
Swansea 2
Chelsea 4

The international break is over and the English Premier League is back as Chelsea host Swansea in a top of the table clash at Stamford Brdige. Join The Roar from 12:00am (AEST) for live scores and commentary.

The Premier League’s top two sides face off at Stamford Bridge for top spot on the Premier League table.

Both sides have strung together three consecutive wins and both will be looking to continue their good run of form when they face off at midnight Australian time.

Despite Swansea’s unprecedented brilliant start to the season, the bookies have them as rank outsiders to cause an upset at $12.

Chelsea are the short favourites and rightfully so after scoring 11 goals in three games including six in their last outing against Everton in a 6-3 away win.

Chelsea will have a full complement of players available with the exception of start striker and super signing Diego Costa who withdrew from the Spanish squad after aggravating his hamstring.

Costa is to undergo a late fitness test prior to the game to assess whether he can play. If Costa passes the test it is expected that he will once again spearhead Chelsea’s attack with Eden Hazard and Willian/Andre Schurrle joining him across Chelsea’s frontline.

If Costa is unable to start then expect to see Chelsea legend and two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner Didier Drogba to receive his first start of the year or for new signing Loic Remy to make his Chelsea debut.

Mourinho may be tempted to start Remy who scored the lone goal for his country in their recent international against Spain.

Swansea will head to London with an upset in mind and despite being heavy underdogs, it won’t worry them in the slightest.

Playing an enterprising brand of football under Garry Monk, the Swans have gotten off to an excellent start picking up wins against Manchester United, Burnley and West Brom.

Chelsea will be there the toughest test of the season but they have enough talent at both ends of the park to cause the title favourites some problems.

Captain Ashley Williams has proven to be on of the best centre back’s in the league and will most likely man mark whoever Chelsea put up front and in attack, speedster Nathan Dyer is in career best form scoring three goals in as many games to start the season.

New signing Gylfi Sigurdsson has settled in very quickly and has been at the heart of Swansea’s attack scoring in the opening game of the season as well as setting up four of the teams other five goals.

Swansea will also be looking for last season’s top scorer Wilfried Bony to get off the mark as he has yet to score this season after finding the back of the net 25 times last year in all competitions.

Swansea have a difficult task ahead of them and will look to cause what is usually a sturdy Chelsea defence plenty of problems.

Chelsea will look to make it four from four and will look to continue their great run in front of goal having put six past Everton.

Full Time - Poor for twenty minutes and scintillating for 70 minutes. After a slow start, Chelsea showed much of the same ruthlessness that seen them put six past Everton last weekend. Hazard, Fabregas and Costa all looked phenomenal and were at the heart of everything Chelsea did going forward. Hazard was in my opinion Man Of The Match as his runs and interplay with Cesc Fabregas proved to be devastating. Oscar started to get into the game as it went on and played big parts in the final two goals assisting on Loic Remy's debut goal. Remy and Salah both looked dangerous when they came on and took full advantage of some tired Swansea legs. Mourinho will not be happy with another late defensive lapse but he will be pleased with Chelsea's attack which ranks as the best in the Premier League and even amongst the best in world football. Swansea looked in control for twenty minutes and started the game brilliantly but after a John Terry own goal, that is where the control stopped and the punishment began. For the next 70 minutes Swansea were on the receiving end of a Chelsea barrage where if it hadn't have been for some Lukas Fabianksi saves and an inch here or there, it could have been five or six again. Swansea pulled one back late through aswell taken goal by ex Liverpool player Jonjo Shelvey but outside of that, they played second fiddle for much of the day. Chelsea make it four form four and sit a top of the Premier League table and judging from their start to the season it will be very tough for any side to displace the Londoners. Chelsea head to Manchester City next week in what is to be a blockbuster clash at the Etihad Stadium. Costa got a hat trick today and him and Chelsea have put every defence in the league on watch, City included!

93 - Some great work from Montero see's him find Bony in the box who almost grabs anothe rback for the Welsh side but his shot never even comes close. Sums up Swansea's day

90 - Chelsea sub Mohammed Salah seems very eager to make an impression and looks dangerous. The Egyptian is taking full advantage of some very tired Swansea defenders and his change of pace and direction is causing Swansea even more problems late on. No shortage of enthusiasm from Salah

88 - With Chelsea 4-2 up Ramires wants to get in on the action and fires an optimistic shot from just outside the box that has a lot of power behind it but flies over the bar.

86 - Mourniho is at it again. The ball slides out for a throw in in front of him and an agitated Mourinho shields the ball from some Swansea players wanting to hurry up the throw in. Typical Mourniho antics but it is clear the Portugese native is none to pleased with Swansea's goal.

85 - against the run of play Jonjo Shelvey does his best striker impression and slides through the Chelsea defence after he was played through brilliantly by Sigurdsson. Shelvey takes a great touch and tucks it past Courtois in goal in a great one on one finish

83 - Chelsea are playing the possession game and are letting the game naturally come to them, not forcing anything. The game has lost its bite but Chelsea are continuing to look to create and convert. Hazard has been immense all day and continues to be at the heart of almost every attack

80 - GOAL - Loic Remy opens his account for Chelsea on debut after some excellent work for Eden Hazard who found space in the box. Hazard squared it to Oscar who looked for a second like he was going to shoot before passing it square to Remy who hits it first time to the left of a diving a Fabianski. Chelsea are in cruise control.

70 - Cheslea are on a rampage and the Swansea team we seen in the first 20 minutes is long gone. Chelsea players are cueing up for shots and if it wasnt for a few inches either way and some great saves by fabianski it would be 4. We knew Chelsea had the potential on paper to be very dangerous but the full force of their atacking prowess is on display.

67 - GOAL - The Hat-trick hero Diego Costa makes it 3-1 for Chelsea as some more Chelsea pressure results in a goal. Chelsea press for an extended period of play and when Hazard squares it to Ramires at the edge of the box, the Brazilian shoots a very weak shot that appears to be rolling towards Fabianksi until Costa intercepts and puts it in the corner. He's struggling for Spain but is absolutely on the tear for Chelsea

64 - Chelsea continuing to push the pace as Hazard fires one off but Fabianski saves. From the resulting save Swansea go all the way down the other end in seconds. Swansea break dwon the left and a beautiful ball from Routledge down the elft see's Gomis through one on one with Courtois. The French international attempts to chip it over a closing Courtois into the bottom right hand corner but the ball goes about 2 yards wide of the post. Swansea's best chance of the game thus far.

59 - Its been all Chelsea for the first fifteen minutes of the second half. They pressed and pressed and eventually their hard work was rewarded. Swansea now have half an hour to find their way back into this game. Chelsea have slightly taken their foot of the gas pedal and will be playing with fire if they become too lax as their are plenty of players in this Swansea team capable of scoring goals.

55 - The combination works again. Hazard, Fabregas, Costa. Some very nice interplay between Hazard and Fabregas sees Hazard takes the ball to the by line. Costa holds his position at the six yard box. Fabregas squares the ball to him and Cost buries it past a hapless Fabianski in goal.

51 - That Fabregas and Costa combination was almost in full effect again. Ball is whipped in by Fabregas who finds Costa in an almost an identical position to where he scored in the first half, Costa gets a shot off but it is deflected over the bar.

48 - Chelsea back on the attack and doing all the pressing. Playing deep in Swansea half controlling possession. Mourinho obviously demanding more urgency. Swansea defending very well and holding the Blues at bay.
