Waerea-Hargreaves and Roosters face anxious wait

By Ben Horne / Roar Guru

Sydney Roosters enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves can ill-afford a charge by the match review committee for a swinging arm on Penrith’s Brent Kite, given his dire record at the NRL judiciary.

Waerea-Hargreaves was put on report in the first half of the Panthers’ upset 19-18 finals win over the defending premiers, and the Roosters now face an anxious wait to see if their most damaging prop is facing time on the sidelines ahead of Friday’s elimination date with North Queensland at Allianz Stadium.

A typically fired-up Waerea-Hargreaves was on a mission early in the qualifying final, crunching Panthers hooker James Segeyaro and then going in hard on veteran Kite, who was forced off the field for a concussion test as a result of the high contact.

Waerea-Hargreaves argued with on-field with referee Jared Maxwell that Kite was falling in the tackle and that the palm of his hand was “open”, but if the match review committee deem the swinging arm was careless or reckless he will likely be suspended.

The New Zealand international has already been suspended twice this year and has 70 carry over points.

That means a grade one charge would result in a one-week suspension if he was found guilty, and a grade two could end his season.

Asked if he was worried about Waerea-Hargreaves being put on report, Roosters coach Trent Robinson simply replied, “No.”

Waerea-Hargreaves missed a match during last year’s finals for a raised forearm and his ill-discipline has cost the Roosters dearly in the past.

As the side’s top metre-eater, he would be difficult to replace given fellow front rower Dylan Napa is currently serving a suspension.

However it’s not all bad news for the Roosters, Queensland back rower Aidan Guerra will return from a one-week ban to take on the Cowboys and hooker Jake Friend is expected to complete his remarkable comeback from a life-threatening injury.

“Jake will go close, he trained well (on Saturday),” said Robinson.

Isaac Luke was charged and fronted the judiciary to start with. JWH didnt even have a case to answer in their view. Joke.

We have our own competition, it is called the Foley Shield http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foley_Shield, maybe the chickens should withdrawal their team from the NRL and go back to the NSWRL where you can rightfully claim all your premiership wins.

Lol @Pot Stirrer, everyone should be treated equal at the judiciary, some clubs get off lightly. Your pretty tough calling someone a redneck behind a computer, when they comment their opinion in a open Rugby league forum. Wow and I can see why you called yourself Pot Stirrer, you must be super creative? Good for you.

Here we go, THe Cowboys are whinging again, What a pathetic club. Now tryingg to make sure they get looked after by the Ref's becuase they are paranoid backwood rednecks who think the world is anti Nth Qld. They should have stayed in Super League and then they could have had everything they wanted and made thier own competition up.

You sound like a tough guy. Can I try it on you, or does all your flexing come from the safety of your keypad? Let me know.

Guerra - 1 week? - Joke Napa - 2 weeks? - Dumbfounded JWH - No charge to answer? - Serious? What a coincidence they are all free to play next week. Well done NRL, gutless wonders. Now you have only yourselves to blame for the precedent you have created for the remaining finals. When you witness the 1st dangerous head shot occur to take out a player, you can expect JWH's video to be used in defence and only yourselves to blame and be held accountable for any serious injuries. You have just given this repeat offending grub the go ahead to do it again.

Should Ennis have been rubbed for a crusher on Issac Luke?

There should be an inquiry into why the Roosters players get special treatment at the judiciary

I suggest you go do your figures. 1300 smiles stadium is almost always a sellout. Compare that to the atrocity they call Sydney Crowds.. You've had a gutful?? Poor diddums. What, did the refs or the whole sydneycentric system not help your team get through to the finals son?

I reckon the Cowboys should present footage of the JWH shoulder charge on Segeyaro and ask the judiciary to please explain. They should both be suspended

ah' the poor darling chickens of the NRL get let off again, what a joke and so predictable, 10 people I know all called it, Sims done Hargreaves will be let off, N(SW)RL, sydneycentric. We know this as fact, otherwise the NRL statistics would not include NSWRL statistics, that is the proof of the corruption ... One is a national comp and one is still a state competition, you know the N(SW)RL try to tell us that the current NSWRL competion started in 1998... lol! what a joke.

We do follow the Instrust Super Cup, Go the Northern Pride!, how was that cup of tea pot stirrer, I believe it was Nerada, North Queensland's finist, maybe a bit harsh for your stomach though lol! What it tells us is that your an ignorant southerner. it is 1350km from Townsville to Brisbane. I believe the statistic you have mixed up is that a lot of NQlanders can travel up to 400k + to watch a game at Townsville. mmm seems the North is starting to get on the nerves of our southern friends Brisbane and Sydney, go the Cows, lets hope the Chickens don't need the Ref to win as usual.

Why dont u just follow the Intrust cup, i for one have had a gutful of Whinging QLNDRS claiming concpiracy's. The Cowboys shouldnt even be in the comp. They bring the less fans of anyone and considering how they are the only NRL Team in a 400Klm radius and dont sell out every game whats that telling you ?

Yet again the whole NSWcentric system in play. This game is a joke. What makes it even more laughable about this whole NSWcentric view of the game, is that the crowd up in North Queensland was just about equal to the crowd two sydney teams attracted between Roosters and Panthers in a final. Whats that saying? Nothing short of a joke if you ask me. Anyhow, I look forward to watching the poor old cowboys be robbed yet again this Friday Night. (Note the Sarcasm)
