San Diego Chargers @ Buffalo Bills (3:00am start)

Buffalo are a shock 2-0 after good wins over the Bears and Dolphins to start their season. They’ll look to start 3-0 for the first time since 2011 (a year when they finished 6-10), which will guarantee them the outright lead in the AFC East for another weak.

The Chargers shocked the Super Bowl champion Seahawks last weekend, and their offence was extremely impressive in doing so. They’re 1-1 this season, with an opening weekend loss to the Arizona Cardinals not helping their cause.

My Pick: Chargers by 3

Tennessee Titans @ Cincinnati Bengals (3:00am start)

The Bengals started out the season as favourites in the AFC North, and they have done nothing to change that in their first two weeks. With two strong wins over the Ravens and the Falcons, the Bengals will be looking to continue their perfect start to season 2014.

The Titans have already had an up and down season, starting with a good win over the Kansas City Chiefs, before falling to the Dallas Cowboys in a fairly weak home performance last weekend. The Titans will need Jake Locker to become Superman if they want to cause an upset in Cincinnati.

My Pick: Bengals by 17

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns (3:00am start)

Cleveland had one of the wins of Week 2 when they overcame a very good Saints outfit with a last-ditch field goal. That momentum will serve them very well as they go into a tough Divisional encounter. Everybody will be watching for Johnny Football in this one, and he may provide an offensive spark if they find themselves struggling at all.

The Ravens started the season very poorly by losing to the Bengals at home, a game where they took almost 3 quarters to post any points. They followed that one up with a strong win over the Steelers, so it’s probably too early to get any real gauge on how the Ravens are travelling. They revel in divisional match-ups, but 3 in a row may be a bit too much for them.

My Pick: Browns by 9

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions (3:00am start)

Detroit have been a hard team to get a read on in recent years, and the early goings of this season are no different. They looked very strong in a Week 1 victory over the New York Giants, but left much to be desired in going down to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. They need a win in this big divisional game if they want to be taken as a serious playoff contender.

The Packers started the season with the hardest job in football: travelling to Seattle. While that wasn’t particularly successful, they righted the ship with a come-from-behind victory over the New York Jets last weekend. They started the season as the NFC North favourites, and a win in this one would see them well on their way to claiming the title.

My Pick: Packers by 7

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars (3:00am start)

Jacksonville have really struggled over the past few years, and this season doesn’t look to be much different for the NFL cellar dwellers. For a team that lead the Philadelphia Eagles 17-0 at half time in Week 1, they have been outscored 75-10 since then. It is their home opener (and home openers can sometimes dish out some unexpected things), but this could get very ugly.

The Colts are only a couple of plays away from 2-0, but as it stands, they are sitting at 0-2 on the season. They need a win here if they want to keep touch with the AFC South leading Texans, and the Jaguars are the perfect team for them to be playing at a time like this.

My Pick: Colts by 24

Oakland Raiders @ New England Patriots (3:00am start)

Are the Patriots vulnerable? After starting the season with an uncharacteristic opening day loss (their first since 2001), the Patriots defeated an Adrian Peterson-less Vikings in Week 2. They get their home opener against arguably the worst side in the competition, but they’ll need to win big if they’re to silence the doubters.

Oakland have been the butt of just about every NFL joke of the last decade, and they’re not showing any improvement early in 2014. With a rookie QB (considering Belichick’s record against rookie QB’s), the trip to Gillette Stadium to face to Patriots isn’t what they needed at this stage of the season.

My Pick: Patriots by 21

Minnesota Vikings @ New Orleans Saints (3:00am start)

The Saints are a very surprising 0-2 after dropping back-to-back close games to start the season. After a tough OT loss to the Falcons in Week 1, a massive breakdown in coverage lead to a shock 2-point defeat at the hands of the Browns in Week 2. Jimmy Graham has been on a tear so far this year, so expect him and Drew Brees to have a field-day against the Vikings.

The Vikings are the talk of the NFL at the moment, but for all the wrong reasons. Considering the distractions that are surrounding the club at the present time (combined with some suspect QB play), it would be hard to see the Vikings getting anywhere close to the Saints in this one. It might be time to unleash Teddy!

My Pick: Saints by 17

Houston Texans @ New York Giants (3:00am start)

The Giants are 0-2, and they’ve looked pretty terrible in doing so. Apart from a couple of quarters against the Cardinals in Week 2, this Giants team has been blown off the park. Eli Manning continues to start for this team, and while he isn’t the entire problem, his play in the early season sure hasn’t helped.

Houston have looked like World-beaters early on in 2014, but please remember that this is the team that picked first in the last NFL draft. They’ve already lost aforementioned pick (Jadeveon Clowney) for 6-8 weeks with a knee injury, and their QB is a guy that couldn’t even hold down the job in Buffalo (!). I’m not saying the wheels will fall off this week, but it could happen any day now.

My Pick: Giants by 3

Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles (3:00am start)

Ah Philadelphia. The first team 2-0 team in NFL history to come back from 14-points down in their first two games. After a strange one against Jacksonville in Week 1 (0-17 in 1st half; 34-0 in 2nd half), they relied on a vicious rally to get over the top of the Colts in Monday Night Football in Week 2. Nick Foles hasn’t been producing at the expected rate so far this year, but Darren Sproles may be the best running back through the first two weeks.

Has any team copped the injuries as bad as Washington this season? After watching RG3 go down with a dislocated ankle early in Week 2, DaSean Jackson went down with a shoulder injury to ruin a great day. Jackson is expected to play, but Griffin is out for the season. Kirk Cousins is the man to step in at QB, and he looked very impressive in Week 2 against Jacksonville.

My Pick: Redskins by 7 (Upset Alert)

Dallas Cowboys @ St. Louis Rams (3:00am start)

The Rams are down to their third string QB, yet they sit at 1-1 on the season. Considering they play in the toughest division in football (NFC West), they’ll need any victory they may fall into their laps this season. A hard fought 1 point victory over the Buccaneers last weekend may give them the confidence they need to beat an inconsistent Cowboys line up.

The Cowboys are mediocrity personified. After a string of 8-8 finishes, they find themselves (somewhat unsurprisingly) at 1-1 for the season. They will go into this one as favourites, but they’re somewhat infamous for losing games they should win. It all depends on what Tony Romo offers up on the day.

My Pick: Rams by 10 (Upset Alert)

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals (6:05am start)

This would be the match of the round if there wasn’t a certain matchup in Seattle later this morning. The Cardinals play a good, tough brand of football, and that should serve them well against a side like the 49ers. If Carson Palmer plays, and can put up some good numbers, they could see themselves in a position to win this one.

The 49ers straight up blew one last weekend. After leading the Bears by 13 heading into the final quarter, they gave up three touchdowns to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Colin Kaepernick still hasn’t taken the next step, and many (including myself) are asking whether he is the best man for the job in San Francisco.

My Pick: Cardinals by 7 (Upset Alert)

Kansas City Chiefs @ Miami Dolphins (6:25am start)

Two teams that have looked both very good and very bad this season. The Dolphins started the season off with a huge home victory over the Patriots, but then backed that up with a very poor performance in Buffalo. Ryan Tannehill is the measure for this team, and if he can put in a big performance, they’ll be well on their way to claiming a victory.

The Chiefs pushed the Broncos to the limit last weekend, but ended up just short in the end. After looking so terrible in Week 1 against the Titans, it was good to see the Chiefs play the kind of football that had them in the play offs last season. Alex Smith is a very good QB, and if he can get a roll on in this one, they’ll be very hard to stop.

My Pick: Dolphins by 4

Denver Broncos @ Seattle Seahawks (6:25am start)

Here it is folks, the game of the round. The first Super Bowl rematch since 1997 promises to be a cracker. The Seahawks suffered a shock loss to the Chargers last weekend, but that shouldn’t faze the Super Bowl Champions. Expect the defence to play out of their skin in this one, as they conjure up memories of the 43-8 demolition they served up in Super Bowl.

The Broncos are 2-0, but they haven’t looked overly impressive doing it. Peyton Manning is on fire (as usual), but the run game just hasn’t been there in a big way so far this season. They’ll need to lean on their defence in this one, as they’ll most likely see their fair share of 3-and-outs against the vaunted defence of the Seahawks.
