Unwanted All Blacks Colin Slade, Steven Luatua, Dominic Bird and Matt Todd have been included in the Barbarians team to face Australia at Twickenham next week.

Coach Sir John Kirwan lifted the number of New Zealand players to 11 in his final squad of 27 for the international on November 1, the first stop of the Wallabies’ November tour of Europe.

The Barbarians also play a subsequent midweek game against Leicester to celebrate the English club’s 125th anniversary.

There are eight South Africans in the squad as well as former Wallabies winger Nick Cummins.

Seven of the New Zealanders have played Tests, including five-eighth Slade, who slotted the match-winning conversion for the All Blacks in their 29-28 win over Australia in Sydney on Saturday.

Slade, flanker Luatua and lock Bird were among the notable omissions from the All Blacks squad named to tour the USA and Great Britain in November.

New Zealand coach Steve Hansen also singled out flanker Matt Todd as unfortunate not to make the cut.

The other All Blacks selected by Kirwan are flanker Adam Thomson and two backs from his Blues Super Rugby team – Frank Halai and Francis Saili.
