[VIDEO] Australia vs Samoa highlights: Four Nations scores

By SuperEel22 / Roar Guru

MATCH RESULT:

That’s it, Australia get the job done against Samoa and are off to the Four Nations final against the Kiwis in Wellington.

The Kangaroos were simply too good for the Samoans. Cronk and DCE were both onsong in the halves and Australians were composed throughout the match.

The Samoans were always going to be up against it but any thoughts of Australia being in for a tough match were dashed inside the first 20 minutes.

The Samoans staged a brief fight back in the second half but in the end, the Kangaroos had too much fire power across the park.

Samoa gave away too many piggy-back penalties and dropped a lot of ball in their own half.

The 42 points scored by the Australians is the most scored by a side in this year’s Four Nations.

Greg Inglis was named man of the match for his 2 try effort.

MATCH PREVIEW:

It’s a big weekend for the Four Nations as Australia find themselves up against Samoa, with both sides technically still in the race for the final before the weekend’s action.

The Australians started their campaign in disappointing fashion, suffering a bad loss to New Zealand in Brisbane, before keeping their hopes alive with a four-point victory over the English in Melbourne last weekend.

They are in a must-win situation against the Samoans, and really they must also win big.

Samoa have played extremely well in this tournament, despite losses in their two starts.

A six-point loss to England in Brisbane was followed by a two-point loss to New Zealand in hostile territory. A victory over Australia would be huge for the island nation.

Australia have made a few changes to the victorious side of last weekend. Josh Papalii will start at prop, as Sam Thaiday moves to the second row to replace the injured Beau Scott.

Robbie Farah, Aidan Guerra and Ryan Hoffman all come into the 17, with Ben Hunt and David Klemmer dropping back to an extended bench alongside Matt Moylan.

Samoa will start Antonio Winterstein on the wing to replace Tautau Moga, while Pita Godinet will start at 9. Sauaso Sue drops to an extended bench, while Reni Maitua and Jesse Sene-Lefao are both named for the first time.

Prediction
Australia has underachieved this tournament, and they come up against a Samoan side that has been a very tough out in the first two weeks. Australia should win, but don’t expect an easy game.

Australia by 6.

Expected final. As a Kiwi supporter I don't want an Aussie Ref, Bentham for the final. He is neutral as a Pom. Please don't give me the 'best referee should be in control'. He is just as good as any other Ref in this comp.

Ben Roberts is a hack. Will always be a hack! He cost Samoa all 3 games in the tournament!

Australia looked better this game. Still lots of schoolboy errors to keep an eye on though.

I cannot believe I missed the fact we would recieve delayed coverage of a game with so much at stake. I really feel used.

Australia looked back to their best for a lot of this, but that Walker is a liability - every time something went wrong he seemed to be at the centre of it.

Australia 44 Samoa 18 78 min gone TRY. Well that was entertaining. It started with DCE going to the line and getting the ball to Inglis. GI found Bird who lost the ball. Ben Roberts picked the ball up, racing 50 metres before Josh Jackson came across in cover. Roberts lost the ball in the tackle and off the ensuing play-the-ball Josh Mansour beat Leilua down the left touch-line. DCE converts from out-wide.

I'll take back everything I said about Papalii if he plays like that next season for the Raiders.

Australia 36 Samoa 18 75 min gone TRY to Josh Papalii. The big man carries four Samoans with him and stretches out with his left arm to plant the ball on the line. KTC
