“I am the number one contender, I’ll beat anyone, it doesn’t matter” proclaimed a triumphant Luke Rockhold. The AKA standout emerged from his bitter feud with British journeyman Michael Bisping as a front runner for a shot at the Middleweight title.

It was the 30-year-old Californian’s dynamic striking display, that was perhaps, the most impressive part of his performance. He threw his kicks calmly and confidently from the middle of the cage as Bisping moved frantically around him, desperately trying to read and defend them.

The first round was marred by an accidently headbut that prompted more of the same trash talk that had made this contest so compelling.

Early in the second round, Bisping was sent to the canvas as he was overwhelmed by Rockhold’s barrage of devastating kicks.

As Bisping desperately tried to get back to his feet, Rockhold didn’t hesitate and latched onto the brit’s open neck. The ever tough Bisping struggled to break free but was forced to tap as Rockhold rolled with him and forced the stoppage from the mounted position.

Besides his Strikeforce title win over “Jacare” Souza, this is arguably the biggest win of Luke Rockhold’s career. It appears as though the stage is now set for the two to meet again, with the winner solidifying his title aspirations.
