Australian cricketer Kristen Beams is confident the Southern Stars can repeat their Twenty20 whitewash of the West Indies in their one-day international series.

The 30-year-old said her side’s 4-0 T20 display had been really impressive and boded well for Tuesday’s ODI opener at Hurstville Oval in Sydney.

“We’ve managed to get them out pretty cheaply (in T20),” Beams said.

“I think that’s going to be the same coming into this series.”

But the West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin could thwart Australia’s winning ways, she said.

“If we can really get on top of Taylor and Dottin, we’ll go a long way to winning the series,” she said.

Eroding their opponents’ top-order batters would be critical to clinching the series, Beams said.

She said the promise of ICC Women’s Championship points in the ODI series would also motivate the Southern Stars.

“I think we’re probably business as usual but, in the back of our minds, knowing how important that is,” she said.

The addition of fellow Victorians Julie Hunter and Nicole Bolton would also boost the local side’s chances, she predicted.

The Australian team trained on the Hurstville ground on Monday in preparation for the three-match series.

The series marks the second round of the inaugural ICC Women’s Championship for the two teams, who are both sitting top of the table after a clean sweep in their first-round matches.

They will play two matches in Sydney on November 11 and 13, before meeting in Bowral on November 16.
