The task against Ludogorets became increasingly difficult for Liverpool when Mario Balotelli was officially ruled out of the game.
He joins a growing list of injuries for the Reds which includes Daniel Sturridge, Jon Flanagan (knee) and Suso (groin) are long-term absentees, while Jordan Henderson (illness), Jose Enrique (knee) and Mamadou Sakho (thigh) are all doubts for the clash.
Roman Bezjak is the only glaring omission from the Ludogorets line up with the striker struggling with a groin injury.
If Liverpool are to win they will need to overturn a four game losing streak in which the Mersyside team has struggled in the English Premier League. This includes their latest outing against Crystal Palace which ended in an upset 3-1 victory for Palace.
While Liverpool have motivation to win this game, but Ludogroets do as well as they are currently tied on three points with Liverpool and could shock both Basel and Liverpool by claiming second spot in the group.
They’ve shown some form in this competition, as well defeating Basel last time out.
Balotelli was a telling factor the last time these two sides met with a goal against Ludogorets before a stoppage time penalty from Steven Gerrard sealed the 2-1 victory.
After coming so close to Premier League glory last season, the expectations that were piled on Liverpool for this campaign were immense. Can they find a way to leave the troubles of Anfield behind them and find some form in Europe?

2-2 away from home eh. Two goals scored, but also 2 more given away. And after all that time, money and emphasis on shoring up the defense from last season. I wonder what Rodgers comments will be after this one? Ok, they do have Real in their group, but seriously, the other teams are Basel and Ludogorets and after having played the games they have, Liverpool will have to wait and see how other results go to find out if they are still in the competition.
