Swansea City vs Crystal Place: English Premier League live scores, blog

By Isaac Nowroozi / Roar Guru

Swansea City will be looking to reclaim a position in the top four when they host Crystal Palace, who will have a lot of momentum behind them after a stellar performance against Liverpool last week. Join The Roar from 2:00am (AEDT) for live updates.

Swansea City started off strong against former champions Manchester City in their last fixture through an early goal from Wilfried Bony, before conceding two goals in what was a entertaining fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

Although disappointed by the result, Swansea manager Garry Monk can take a lot of positives out of the game, including impressive midfield link ups, most notably including Jefferson Montero, who has been in outstanding form in recent weeks, creating opportunities whenever he can and playing a full game at a consistent pace.

Set to take on Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United in their following fixtures, Swansea City are more than capable of winning their next few games and should be looking to gain maximum points in the fight for a top four position.

Despite chasing the game after they conceded in just the second minute, Crystal Palace sent their fans home happy scoring three goals, including a stunning free kick by Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak, in a entertaining win against Liverpool.

Palace manager Neil Warnock will be looking to implement some of the attacking strategies that were successful against Liverpool, however with Palace’s lacking ability to keep possession in recent weeks, it would not be a surprise to see Montero, Sigurdsson and Dyer come off successful off a counter attacking play.

Crystal Palace have had limited success against Swansea City, and will be looking to break that curse when they travel to the Liberty Stadium. The last time these two teams played was earlier in March, where a ten man Swansea City side dominated the majority of the game before a eighty-second minute penalty saw Palace salvage a draw.

This time around however, Swansea look much stronger in the back, much more clinical in their attacking movements and will be looking to come up with the three points.

Prediction: Swansea City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Both teams forced to settle for a point in what was an entertaining end to end fixture. Both sides went for the kill but it was not meant to be. The talking point was a dubious penalty call against Shelvey that saw Aussie skipped Jedinak equalise from the spot, after an early goal from Wilfred Bony put Swansea in front. Swansea stay out of the top four for now, and Palace are still somewhat clear of the relegation zone, but with the bottom half of the table being so tight, Crystal Palace need to be getting three points to escape the pressure of playing for a spot in the Premier League. Thank you for joining the Roar's liver coverage of the English Premier League, we look forward to seeing you again soon. Once again the final score was Swansea City 1 - 1 Crystal Palace
