Conor McGregor goes face-to-face with UFC Champion Jose Aldo

By Isaac Nowroozi / Roar Guru

Perhaps the fastest man ever to rise to superstar status in the UFC, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor (17-2) proved once again he wasn’t just all talk when he ripped through Dennis Siver (22-10, 1NC) in just over two rounds.

The Irishman physically dissected Siver for a full round, before putting on the finishing touches early in the second round to earn a TKO victory.

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo witnessed McGregor’s victory first hand, with front row seats for the fight. Aldo had also brought a poster of McGregor to Boston to show his ‘support’ for the Irishman, which depicted him wearing a jokers hat.

However, it was his post-fight antics that has everybody talking.

After his impressive finish over Siver, the Irishman jumped the fence of the octagon before running into the crowd and coming face-to-face with the current UFC Featherweight Champion, Jose Aldo Jr. (25-1).

It was a one-sided exchange, with Conor McGregor screaming at Jose Aldo while the champion just looked on and laughed, seeming disinterested with what McGregor had to say.

McGregor was eventually forced to return to the octagon, where he told the current champion to “f**k off”. Aldo was invited into the octagon, however declined, due to “superstition” according to UFC president Dana White at the press conference.

Jose Aldo was interviewed shortly after regarding the incident, and claimed he was “not impressed” by McGregor and vowed to keep his belt after the two lock horns.

Conor McGregor continued on his verbal assault at the post-fight press conference, claiming to finish “the skinny Brazilian” Jose Aldo.

“One more head will be collected” he said, before going on to say, “He will be next one to learn that’s not all talk.”

Despite discussing a stadium event either in Ireland or Brazil, the UFC has reportedly decided that the championship bout between Aldo and McGregor will be held in Las Vegas, in what has been called a “business decision”. The fight is expected to take place later this year.

Aldo vs McGregor could potentially be dubbed the biggest title fight in the history of the featherweight division, and maybe even the UFC. Either way, it is sure to be the most financially viable event the UFC has ever hosted, and will equate for a big day for both Aldo and McGregor.

Will Conor McGregor be the man to dethrone Jose Aldo? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Can't wait, it's about time they give Aldo another striker... In saying that Conor won't last 2 rounds. He's lucky he didn't have to fight Frankie Edgar or Chad Mendez otherwise he wouldn't be fighting for the title, they would dominate him with ease and that is the exact reason teh UFC did not match Conor with those 2 beasts.

Great fight tonight, McGregor is a fantastic fighter but I really think he needs to be brought back down to earth by Aldo. Fair enough, everytime he's talked it up, he's followed up but now needs to be put in his place. Was hilarious, firstly with the Middle finger to Siver after he refused to touch gloves and then scaling the cage to confront Aldo. He's definitely an entertainer, I'll give him that. As for the title bout, I'll make an early prediction; it will go the distance and Aldo to win by unianomous decision. Either way, should be an amazing fight!

As someone who rates Siver I have to say McGregor wowed me this arvo. He is up there with the most talented mma fighters I have ever seen. Siver who is usually very active and runs the show didn't exist and was just trying to block as many punches/kicks as he could. Mcgregor destroyed him. Didn't really like his pre and post fight antics but I would give him a slight advantage against Aldo mostly because of the (I think) reach advantage.

Aldo doesn't speak English, so it makes sense he wouldn't be that interested in what McGregor was yelling at him. That said, the word 'Alpha' as in 'Alpha Male' is thrown around a lot in relation to UFC fighters and how they react to situations. Aldo not flinching in the slightest and basically laughing in McGregor's face is about the most Alpha act I've seen in a long time. Zero f**cks were given this day.
