On May 10 the Ultimate Fighting Championship will make its debut in South Australia with UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs Miocic.

The event, which will be held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, features Sydney-based Kiwi Mark Hunt taking on top heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic.

Hunt will look to recreate his spectacular knockout over Roy Nelson last year in Japan. ‘The Super Samoan’ came within striking distance of the interim heavyweight title against Fabricio Werdum at UFC 180, losing by TKO in the second round.

Miocic will be coming off a five-round Fight of the Night brawl against former champion Junior Dos Santos. The No.4 ranked Croatian will look to secure a claim to title contention with a victory over Hunt.

The card will also feature a who’s who of Aussie and international talent. In the night’s co-main event, TUF: Smashes winner Robert Whittaker steps up to face the No.15 ranked Brad Tavares.

UFC veteran and Sydney-based Anthony ‘The Hippo’ Perosh will meet Sean O’Connell in a light-heavyweight bout.

In a battle of undefeated lightweights, Melbourne’s Jake ‘The Celtic Kid’ Matthews faces off against James ‘The Texecutioner’ Vick.

TUF 20 alum ‘Rowdy’ Bec Rawlings will take on Seohee Ham. Gold Coast middleweight Dylan ‘The Villain’ Andrews will square off against Bradley ‘Bear’ Scott. Sydney’s Alex ‘Astro Girl’ Chambers, also of TUF 20 fame, will meet hot prospect Kailin Curran from Hawaii.

In a welterweight bout of Team Australia alums, Brisbane’s Brendan ‘Badger’ O’Reilly squares off against his TUF: Nations teammate Vik ‘The Spartan’ Grujic.

Needless to say, this looks to be an action-filled card from top to bottom.

Hunt puts on a great show when he finds a willing dance partner, and Miocic should provide just that.

Whittaker will face a serious step-up in competition against Tavares. If his middleweight debut is anything to go by, he could make a statement in Adelaide.

There is a lot on the line for rising star Matthews against a fellow undefeated prospect; ‘The Celtic Kid’ continues to impress and improve with every outing.

Following a shoulder injury, then an accidental knockout, we will all be hoping Dylan Andrews snaps his streak of bad luck in May.

Chambers vs Curran could be the night’s sleeper hit. Both women aren’t shy to engage and it should prove to be an exciting contest.
