Kokkinakis wins through to 4th round at Indian Wells

By The Roar / Editor

Australian teenager Thanasi Kokkinakis has burst into the fourth round of the Indian Wells Masters with a hard-fought victory over Juan Monaco.

Kokkinakis, the current world no. 124 triumphed 6-2 5-7 7-6 (7-5) over the Argentine world No.48.

He will now meet the winner between fellow Australian Bernard Tomic and Spain’s David Ferrer to be played also on Monday in the Californian desert.

At just 18 years of age, Kokkinakis appears well on track to crack the top 100 in 2015 as he carries on his early season form from the Australian Summer.

After receiving wild cards to both the Brisbane International and Australian Open, Kokkinakis received high praise for his efforts, managing to knock off two tough first round opponents: 8th seed Julien Benneteau in Brisbane, and 11th seed Ernests Gulbis in Melbourne.

This is true. But I honestly believe that we could get a win against Murray considering how well the three young guns are playing at the moment. Plus, underdogs always lift when it comes to davis cup

I assume when you use the word "a" you mean "at some point" meaning not this year right? The problem with Davis Cup is it's not really about depth, you still have to win individual tennis matches. When we play GB, we simply have nobody right now capable of beating Andy Murray even on a bad day, so that means we're 0-2 down already. Same with Serbia. If we play Switzerland, we have nobody to beat either Federer or Wawrinka, so we're 0-4 down already. It's not that different to when we last won. It's not like we had anyone other than Hewitt, but Hewitt was top of the world then and made us 2-0 before even starting.

We should at least beat Kazakhstan in July, and if it's France that we meet in the semis then we've got the home ground advantage (otherwise the Aussies will have to travel to Great Britain to face the Brits who will be led by Andy Murray).

Was following the games this morning and my eyes lit up when I saw the draw. Ferrer is one of my least favourite players (flat track bully) so would love to see Tomic get through and set up an all Aus clash.
