Ignore the biting, Luis Suarez is all about hunger

Forget for a moment what a controversial figure Luis Suarez is, and let’s focus on his footballing ability.

After a slow start with Barcelona, Suarez is now putting in performances as good as those he provided for Liverpool last season.

Coming off a season in which he found the net 31 times with Liverpool, Barcelona pounced on the world-class player for a fee reported to be around £75 million pounds.

Many asked, is he really worth the risk with all the negatives he provides?

Being a Liverpool fan myself, I have never enjoyed watching a footballer more than Luis Suarez. So much talent and desire makes him the player he is and the player I remember wearing the red shirt.

The media in Spain were quick to remind Suarez that if he wasn’t to perform there would be critics.

His first game was El Classico against Barca’s bitter rivals Real Madrid; possibly the toughest fixture he could have introduced himself to the Barcelona fans. Following the match many questioned if he was worth such a hefty fee. He didn’t perform poorly – in fact there was an assist with his first touch – it’s just the simple case of modern day football fans losing loyalty before something has begun.

As the season has progressed we have seen Suarez playing the football he produced throughout last season for Liverpool. Slowly he has built himself back up, reminding us why the club went to so much effort to bring him to the Nou Camp.

Last weekend Suarez took part in El Classico again, this time putting in a man of the match performance – an assist for his partner Lionel Messi and the winning goal giving Barcelona control of the title race.

It seems to have clicked at the right time for Suarez. He was pivotal in helping Barcelona overcome Manchester City in the Champions League, and continuing their solid form in the league.

Players need time to find their best form after spending time out of the game, and we are seeing that with Luis Suarez. Never write off a world-class talent.

It’s a pity more footballers don’t have the desire and fight Suarez has. Whenever he is on the pitch, it looks as if his life depends on it. Footballers are criticised for not showing enough determination, but I never worry about that with Suarez.

After the 3-3 draw last season between Liverpool and Crystal Palace, which in the end cost the Reds dearly, he was on the ground crying his heart out. It wasn’t a sign of weakness, it simply showed he is more worried about results than his bank account.

I don’t back Luis Suarez for all the controversies he has put himself through, but I always see the footballer who genuinely cares.

I'm simply suggesting put aside all the negatives Luis Suarez has next to his name and have a look at the recent performances he has put in. People aren't giving him enough praise because of the incidents in the past. Many Barca fans were suggesting he wasn't worth the £75 million pounds and now he is proving them wrong. In other words, he now looks like a Barcelona player.

i dont get the point of this article. no one has ever said that saurez isnt a truly brilliant player, he is one of the best around. but to ask us to ignore his biting is just silly. if he had done it once or even twice yeah maybe but he has done it at least 3 times, you cant ignore that. if he did it just off the pitch absolutely you can ignore it but he bites people repeatedly on the field. this in no way does not mean he isnt brilliant, he is, but you cant ignore it as you ask.

His talent matched with his drive and determination make him the player he is. And yes you are correct, Messi tends to get more praise and that will always be the case due to the love Barcelona fans have towards him.

absolutely, whilst people have been caught up praising Messi(obviously just to try give him an edge over CR7) Suarez has been the main man behind the Barcelona revival which has seen them beat Man City and top the League... Its not only the goal scoring that Suarez has brought, rather the work rate he offeres upfront and the numerous assists he has provided for his team mates especially if you consider Messi's numerous tap ins.. Suarez has actually turned around Barcelona and it is Suarez's perfomances that have given Barca the edge over Madrid and the likes of Bale and Benzema simply cannot match Suarez's efforts... After a long lay off a bit of rust myt have been expected but the way he has rejuvinated not only himself, but Barcelona as a whole is unbelievable
