Blake Ferguson ruled out for four months with foot injury

By The Roar / Editor

Roosters centre Blake Ferguson has been dealt a blow to his comeback to the NRL, being ruled out for four months with a foot injury after his side’s win over the Canberra Raiders.

Ferguson injured ligaments in his right foot in the Roosters’ win over his former club, but hoped he wouldn’t have to have surgery on the injury.

It appears his hopes were not to be, however, with the centre to undergo surgery on ligaments in his foot as early as Tuesday.

The 25-year-old’s return to the game has been gaining momentum, after he was ruled out of the last two NRL seasons after off-field misdemeanours.

His exit from the Canberra Raiders was controversial to say the least, as was the process that led to him joining the Roosters in an off-field role last year, which eventually led to him playing with the club when his contract was registered by the NRL.

Ferguson touched down for a try against the Raiders, to go with the double he scored against the Penrith Panthers in Round 3.

He picked up the injury trying to evade Raiders opposite number Jarrod Croker, and played on for a period. He eventually left the field for the final quarter of the match, which the Roosters ended up winning 34-6.

It will be a setback to the Roosters as well, who have been finding form after their loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 2.

Squadward it's a even bigger shame for him to potentially miss the whole state of origin series because he would of been a handful for the Queensland defence

No they'll just bring in Nene Macdonald and turn him into an origin player and then everybody will say that he's on $400,000 a year and how can we possibly afford him

What will the chooks do now? Maybe Politis can seek special dispensation from the NRL and get Israel Folaou for the rest of 2015 with say a spare $20k for the year?
