[VIDEO] New Zealand Warriors vs Wests Tigers highlights: NRL scores, blog

By Scott Pryde / Expert

Super Saturday continues when the Wests Tigers travel to Mount Smart Stadium to face the New Zealand Warriors. Join The Roar for what should be a great clash from 5:15pm (AEST).

The New Zealand Warriors made the tough trip to AAMI Park in Melbourne last week and came up short.

The Warriors currently sit 11th on the ladder, with two wins and three losses, and desperately need a win against the Tigers to re–ignite their season and get some momentum back after a couple of losses in a row.

The Wests Tigers meanwhile are doing a fraction better than the Warriors, with three wins and two losses to be sixth on the ladder.

The Tigers will have confidence by the way in which they pulled the win out of the fire against the Eels last weekend, led by the experience of Pat Richards.

The key issue facing the Warriors is consistency. Last week against the Storm their defence was like a leaking ship and their attacking plays looked like an under 10s side. However, this was interspersed with moments of brilliance.

If the Warriors, and Shaun Johnson, can become consistent they could seriously dominate.

Another issue is the injury of England-bound star Sam Tomkins, whom they have missed terribly at fullback.

The Tigers have some of the most exciting creative players in the game in James Tedesco, Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses. They will aim get the ball to the experienced Pat Richards and solid Kevin Naiqama as often as possible.

Prediction
On home soil the Warriors should be too strong for the Tigers, who will no doubt put up a very strong fight, making this a must-watch game.

Warriors by 8.

Manu Vatuvei get's the win that he, the Warriors and the Warriors fans so much wanted in his 200th game. They were dominant in the back end of the first half and that's where the victory was set up as they piled on the points over the Wests Tigers. The teams seemed to be both stuck in the sheds when they came out for the second half as plenty of dropped ball occurred however both teams were working hard in defence and points were hard to come by. When Simona scored for the Tigers the game was right back on and the result was really up in the air. When Manu Vatuvei scored with 10 minutes to go the Warriors it looked like the Tigers were dead and buried for all money because despite all the dropped the ball the Warriors were providing the Tigers they couldn't crack the Warriors line. Eventually they did through Pat Richards after one too many mistakes from the Warriors. In the last play of the game the Warriors managed to score through Bodene Thompson and put the result beyond doubt. In the end we got the entertaining high scoring game this one promised to be. Chad Townsend was sensational for the Warriors tonight and was by far the best on ground. For the Tigers it was a real solid team effort with no major standout however Simona was good with a double and setting up one more.

79' - TRY WARRIORS, BODENE THOMPSON Video referee Warriors! Here come the Warriors working it up the field. Townsend finds Hoffman who makes a half break but desperate defence shuts him down. Now on the last Townsend kicks across the field and Thompson thinks he has scored. The on field decision is try. Townsend put up a very nice kick and Matulino tried to hit it back to Thompson as he went away and touched down almost untouched. Looks very line ball the hit back. And Green Lights! That will be that then, no coming back for the Tigers now. Warriors 30 Tigers 22

77' - How much will that error from Kata come back to haunt the Warriors here? The Tigers now working it over halfway before they go out the back through Moses and Tedesco but Lawrence gets tackled. In the end Brooks chips and chases, then toes it through again after getting an awesome bounce but in the end Wright is waiting for it. Warriors 26 Tigers 22

TRY WARRIORS, MANU VATUVEI Brilliant from the Warriors and Manu gets a second try in his 200th game. They spread to the left through Townsend to Johsnon who finds Kata. He almost ends up getting tackled but gets an offload over the top to Vatuvei who beats 2 straightens and then runs over to score. Warriors 24 Tigers 18

68' - That was looking very dangerous from the Warriors there but in the end Johnson throws a ball that's slightly high to Hoffman and he gets hit before he can hold it properly. Warriors 20 Tigers 18
