Thats precisely the point Vas, LFC appointed f unqualified and unproven to get the club challenging the top teams again. This is not possible if you bring in someone who has never achieved anything. The point about Gary Monk sums this up perfectly. No top team aspiring to be the best would bring in someone who is unproven, it's contradicts logic. As for Kenny and Hicks/Gillette, it's undisputed that they're responsible for the clubs current financial predicament. However, finances became available last summer but were squandered on players who did not fit the bill, were completely against the team philosophy and over inflated prices to say the least. All this is as a direct result of BR who admits he has the last say on all signings. This fact is inescapable. Add to this that last years style/philosophy of approaching a game changed comprehensively, the badly handled PR campaigns (Gerrards in particular), the only conclusion is that the problem is management, which, therefore, needs to be changed. What really frustrates me is when people say BR is a young manager and is still learning! It does not make sense that for all the club aspires to, you have in charge a learner. Should any big club appoint a learner then that speaks volumes about their aspirations. If i were a learner driver i would not expect to tell the driving instructor what was right and what was wrong. He should be teaching me. Its absolutely ridiculous to suggest that to become a good driver i would need to teach the instructor. Similarly, should LFC want to be the best they need someone to take them there who knows how to, not the other way round. But, again, the fact that BR finds it unacceptable for a team to not challenge for the title having spent £100m+, and then himself doesn't even qualify for CL, is itself an indictment on whether or not he's the right person for the job.

Iddi, the circumstances that took Rodgers to Liverpool was far different from the one that would supposedly take Monk to one of the clubs you mentioned. Rodgers took over from Kenny Dalglish, who spent 100m+ to get eighth place. It's worth remembering that at that time, Liverpool was only starting to get back on its feet after the Hicks/Gillett ownership that nearly killed the club with debt to RBS. None of the four clubs you mentioned are in financial difficulty. No question Liverpool have spent plenty this season, but even so, there was always the possibility that they would miss out on the top four, given United's even greater investment this season. But clubs in the predicament of Liverpool cannot afford a hire-and-fire approach that serves Chelsea and Man City well. I wouldn't fire Rodgers, because he did have a great season last year. For those who want to cite Suarez as the reason, well Suarez was there the year previous too, when Rodgers' Liverpool finished seventh. It doesn't boil down to one individual. Liverpool are only having a slightly better season without Suarez than what Spurs had without Bale. The same way we can harangue Rodgers for having a poor March, he equally had an excellent January and February to take Liverpool on the cusp of CL qualification.

It just doesn't make any sense to continue this false belief that somehow he can do something good without ever having done so, or even having shown potential in doing. Its clear to all that Suarez was the reason for LFC's good season last and now that he's gone, the true colours are patently obvious. I mean its not something which needs much thought! By his OWN words when asked about Man City spending £100 million last season, BR categorically and on record stated that to spend that amount of money and not contest for the Premier League was unacceptable, yet here, he and some LFC 'fans' are ready to accept that having spent £120+m, its ok not to even finish top 4! Its just breathtakingly astonishing. You can argue all you like about transfer policy but the fact and record states that Rodgers has the last word on ALL signings, so the disasters that were bought in at an eye wateringingly, ridiculous amount, which BR accepts as his own signings - and the reason for LFC's horrible multi million pound failure this season - leaves no room for question that BR is not and never was the right man at the helm for LFC. This is affirmed by the fact that he's the only LFC manager that hasn't won a single trophy in over 60 years in the first 3 season in charge. And for those who say that Alex Ferguson didn't at Man U either, this isn't the 1980's, and the commercial aspect which determines a clubs success or failure has now only a short but decisive impact which means the person in charge at a club the size of LFC HAS to be experienced, successful and proven, otherwise accept that LFC will be a team challenging a UEFA spot and chasing the 'top 4,' not amongst them. I'll leave you with this to think about...Gary Monk has done really well with Swansea this season, no doubt. Can you imagine Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal or Man City employing him as their manager next season on the basis of what he's done at Swansea?? Exactly.

That is a fair comment however if the Pool have aspirations to contend in the future then Top 4 must be the priority. They have a reasonably young squad with some very talented players. The nucleus is there however they need to bring in a quality striker and centre back. Rodgers recruitment this season was poor. Rodgers does a good job of bringing through the young talent however his PR skills need serious work. He just needs to shut his gob and get on with it. I think he can become a good gaffer but is not there yet.

I just think that with the log-jam of elite level clubs at the top of the EPL it's naive to expect a club to be constantly challenging for the title year in and out. Unless you're a club with the (completely over the top) financial power of say Chelsea there's no way to constantly be in the mix for top spot, no matter who is lost in the off season. If I'd been the one sitting Rogers down to sign his contract I'd be doing so with the expectations of him making the top four in one of every two seasons and making a cup final in one of every three. I almost feel sorry for Brendan Rogers, if they'd never had that great run last season he might not even be in this mess.

FSG haven't publicly backed Rodgers at all. They have said nothing. Brendan Rodgers' mouthpiece friends in the media have claimed this. FSG have said nothing of the sort.

It's a difficult one to ponder - Rodgers was a big reason for Liverpool's rise last season, and his ability to get Suarez and Sturridge firing together, Sterling rising as a force, and reincarnating Gerrard as a holding player was key to Liverpool's excellent season. Losing Suarez is one component, but the problems are far beyond that. For his successes last season, Rodgers has had a terrible record in the transfer market. While Sturridge has been good, his appearances have been sporadic. Only Coutinho can be labelled an unqualified success. As for Klopp, I just don't see him coming to Liverpool. For two reasons. One, FSG have publicly stated their support for Rodgers, and two the notion of firing Rodgers in this way would undermine the very philosophy that Klopp may want to join Liverpool for. I don't think Klopp to Man City is a shoo-in either - he seems far too hipster and a free thinker for City's owners, who demand an instant sugar-hit from all their managers. The only English clubs I see battling for Klopp would be Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal. I really think Klopp at Arsenal would be a great fit, but only if Wenger was displaced.

Rodgers is a dead man walking, but I don't think Klopp will be the one coming in to replace him. It will be a massive shock if Rodgers remains for next season. Rodgers, while not being a good manager, his major problem is that he seems to have lost the faith of the players now. The death knell for any manager. Brendan Rodgers has made a lot of promises to the owners and he has simply failed to deliver on them. Wasting transfer funds, tactically inept, continually playing players out of position, freezing out of some players, continually embarrassing the club in the media when he has been told to shut his mouth. His clueless leadership in the Champions League and failure to get out of the weakest group. His arrogance to listen to others. Just a few of the reasons he will be let go come the end of the season.

Reasonable comment. After losing a player like Suarez it was always going to be difficult to challenge for the title again. They have some very solid players in their current squad. They might need someone a bit more dependable than Balotelli and Lambert up front to back up Sturridge and I don't think Lovren is really working out there either. Their midfield is excellent so not too much to worry about there.

Rather than sack Rogers I think the key to a satisfied Liverpool board would be to adjust their expectations.

Rodgers will probably get one more year, if he doesn't finish top 4 next season he will be gone. No way Pep leaves Bayern meaning Klopp will likely end up at City.

Why would they get rid of Rodgers. 5th place ahead of Tottenham is good with the average players they have running around. Klopp will surely go to Man Cty now that Pep looks safe at Bayern.
