Draft preview

The 2015 NFL draft is upon us.

After the New England Patriots were triumphant against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX back in February, we’ve been waiting for what is ultimately the highlight of the NFL offseason which is now finally here.

This year’s draft will be a little different in that it will now be held at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. As opposed to the Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Join The Roar for live updates as they happen and commentary from 10:00am (AEST) Friday first May 2015.

The major storyline entering this draft is the competition between two Heisman Trophy winning Quarterbacks in Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. Who will go first and where? Will a team trade up to take one of these guys or will they both end up being picked number one and number two overall in the draft? So much speculation – particularly in Marcus Mariota’s case – as to where exactly they will end up.

Also we could very well see the first running back selected in the first round of this draft since 2012. In fact there is every chance we see two drafted in Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon. Don’t be surprised either if a lot of defensive players come off the board in this first round. There’s some top talent to be had and we could see five defensive players go within the top 10 picks.

We’ve also seen two potential top 10 picks’ draft stock potentially fall dramatically after Randy Gregory from Nebraska failed a drug test at the NFL Combine and Shane Ray from Missouri was arrested from Marijuana possession only a few days ago.

Look also for teams to trade up for players they really want or trade down if it means acquiring more draft picks in later rounds or at next year’s draft.

So join us at The Roar for updates on each pick and trades in this first round of the NFL draft for 2015 as they happen, and debate in our live blog below.

Loving getting Shane Ray for a 23rd pick. Got rid of a couple of lower picks and the surplus to requirements Manny Ramirez whilst gaining 3 mil cap space in order to get one of the better pass rushers in this draft. Nice!

What were the Colts thinking taking a receiver? They already have Hilton and Moncrief plus they signed Andre Johnson. They have so many needs on defence. Jags and Skins are going to regret not taking Leonard Williams. Giants pick was a bit of a reach and the Panthers was a big reach.
