Brisbane Roar vs Urawa: Asian Champions League live scores

By The Roar / Editor

Brisbane Roar face up to their final Asian Champions League hurdle this evening, as they face Japanese side Urawa at Suncorp Stadium.

Join us for live scores of the match from 7:00pm AEST, and feel free to leave a comment in the section below on the game.

Roar will be hoping to get something out of their season after they went down to Adelaide United in the Elimination final on Friday night, 2-1.

They will need something close to a miracle, however, needing a huge victory, and also relying on Suwon Samsung to beat current Group G leaders Beijing Guoan to move into the next round of the tournament.

The two matches will be played simultaneously, so they will know their fate, either way, by the end of the game.

It will take something to the tune of six goals to get them through to the next round, but it hasn’t discouraged Roar players from holding out some hope.

Roar midfielder Luke Brattan said the side’s full focus was on this fixture.

“We’re disappointed but in good spirits and looking forward to tomorrow night.

“We are out of the A-League now so all focus is on this game.”

The side endured a disappointing from the A-League finals, after sneaking in due to Perth Glory’s elimination from the tournament.

Fans should expect marquee man Thomas Broich to line up for the match, despite copping a nasty knock against Adelaide.

Frans Thijssen was coy on who would take the field in any position, and will reveal the side just before kickoff.

“We have to score a couple of goals and of course that’s not easy, when you’re thinking like that but it’s the only way for us to reach the next round,” Thijssen said.

“We have to play attacking football without losing the organisation – that’s very important.”

Can the Roar pull of a miracle? Or will we see an ACL finals series with no Aussie team?

Find out from 7pm AEST as Brisbane Roar take on Urawa Diamonds.

Would it kill them to play a couple of through balls, or are they intent on walking in the goals?

We've only got the choice on Steff, Sarota, Young, Danning and Lombi-wotsisname who are all off contract plus Kaluderovic where we have the exit clause. I'd let them all go creating six open positions on our roster. I'd then try and lose some of the contracted players - Solorzano perhaps, maybe Theo (but then keep Young) which would free up positions and more cash.

Totally bizzare Bfc, we started without urgency but at 1-2 had a sniff but several players were knackered. Can't believe he used no subs! Can't believe he's wasted our time as interim head coach

The apparent unwillingness of the coach to use his bench is baffling. We were 'chasing' the game and players were fatigued yet no subs were used despite this being the last game of the season (the result of the Beijing vs Suwon game was going to knock us out of the ACL anyway...). Lustica, Petratos and Danning were on the bench...Lustica has been in fine form, Danning would have presented a different problem for the Urawa defence as he is quicker of movement than Kaluderovic and Borello could not get past the Urawa left back anyway so Petratos could have been given a run to see if he could affect the outcome. As it was, and as it has been a few times this season, there was some kind of inertia on the Roar bench...our use of subs has been too slow and too late in too many games.

Based on form this season, the only players who I would want to see re-signed by Roar are: Broich, McKay, Bratten, Heinrique, North, Borello, and Clut. Apart from those, Theo is all-class and should be a priority if he is off-contract. While Young has proven himself this season he is not IMO up to Theo's standard. The story of the season for me has been that Roar's midfield is fluid but at the front lack the creativity and killer instinct from 2011-12. I think everyone agrees that the back has been a mess all season. It's no coincidence that many of the players who I feel should be retained are old hands - indicating that Roar have not recruited/retained well enough n the past two seasons.

Nowhere near good enough. No effort. No urgency. No interest it seemed to me and everyone else at the stadium. We sacked Mike Mulvey for this? Pathetic. 2:0 down in our last chance saloon and what does our standup comedian of a 'coach' do? Nothing. Again! nothing. We leave Petratos, Lustica, Bradley on the bench while players such as Broich, Andrija, Bratten even McKay were actually fallen over they were so stuffed. The man has been an embarrassing joke as has our season, as is fast becoming our club. Major changes needed right now - not next season - RIGHT NOW, like tomorrow! And I fear there is more wrong here than just the coach and some of the players.
