Coming off a decision loss in an incredible five-round heavyweight bout against former UFC champion Junior Dos Santos (17-3), Miocic will be desperate to impress in Adelaide and plead his case for the next shot at heavyweight gold.
Having finished nine of his 12 wins by knockout, and coming off three dominant wins against Roy Nelson (21-11), Gabriel Gonzaga (16-10) and Fabio Maldonado (22-7)- who he finished in 30 seconds- Miocic has proven time and time again that he belongs at the top of the heavyweight division, and he may be just one win away from a title shot.
Coming off a disappointing loss against Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1) in his interim-title fight in Mexico last year, Hunt will be eager to put a stamp on Miocic and make another claim at the belt.
Known for his devastating knockout power, and his signature ‘walk-away’ when the finishing blow lands, Hunt will be confident that he can land the big right and put Miocic to sleep.
“This is what I was born to do. I’m a fighter. I’ll put this right hand on his lips and he’s out.”
A win for the Sydney-based fighter could put him in prime position for a shot at gold at the UFC’s highly anticipated Melbourne event in November, and whilst he could potentially face either current champion Cain Velasquez (13-1), Hunt has revenge on Werdum on his mind.
I’ve never lost a rematch, ever. Even in kickboxing, I’ve always won the rematch, and I’m not gonna lose another one to him, that’s for sure”.

Miocic will likely outwork Hunt, but whichever way it goes, it’s the fans that are the true winners of this main event.

Honestly the ref letting Hunt get pounded on for 10 minutes without him defending himself was probably a worse advert than the booing.

Miocic classy in his post-fight interview, and the a lot of the crowd is still booing. Not a good advertisement for mixed martial arts, he was amazing here.

Stipe Miocic vs Mark Hunt – ROUND 5/5 Miocic comes out right away and lands another take down. Hunt is trying but he just looks out of it. Big left hands landing for Miocic now. Miocic still on top and landing shots. The referee needs to stop this fight. Miocic will not stop fighting. The crowd chanting "stand them up" but there really is no reason too. Hunt is just getting hit now and Miocic is on top and is relentless. This one should really be stopped! Miocic still just landing shot after shot on stop, and the referee finally stops the fight. The crowd boos, I have no idea why, Miocic was just way too good tonight!

Stipe Miocic vs Mark Hunt – ROUND 4/5 They touch gloves again, and round four is underway. Miocic landing some big shots again and he gets another take down! How much more can Hunt take> The crowd is booing Miocic but he looks world class right now. Miocic in side control now, and he is landing big shots again. A sharp elbow lands clean for Miocic, and Hunt is badly hurt. More big punches land for Miocic now. If I was the ref I would have stopped this one by now. Big shots again on top land for Miocic. Hunt looking for an under-hook and he looks to get back to his feet. Miocic sees it coming and changes position end up in half guard again. Body punches landing clean for Miocic. Hunt looks very tied. Stipe landing more shots on top again, as Hunt tries to use the cage to get back up to his feet. Hunt is back up and Miocic lands a huge left hand! Hunt's face is so damaged I am surprised he can even see. Knee lands for Miocic. Short right hand lands for Hunt, 30 seconds left in the round. Hunt still looking for that one big shot, but Miocic is holding him on the fence. Time. My score: 10-8 Miocic Overall score: 40-34 Miocic.

Stipe Miocic vs Mark Hunt – ROUND 3/5 Round three is underway and they touch again. Miocic lands a good hard jab. Good jab lands for Hunt. Miocic lands another good take down. He is really changing levels well. Miocic lands some good sharp elbows in half guard. More sharp elbows land for Miocic, and he postures up in half guard and lands a big right hand followed by some lefts. Body shots land for Miocic. Another right lands for Stipe. Three more elbows land on top. This is all Miocic. Hunt trying to squirm out of it. Miocic on top landing some big shots. Hunt is eating some big shots! Hunt trying to use the cage to get back to his feet as the referee is telling him to improve his position before the fight is stopped. Hunt gets up and eats a big knee, and Miocic takes him down again! Miocic on top and he is landing some big shots. Hunt is trying to stay in it, as Miocic looks at the referee. Hunt still eating shots and the referee is looking to stop it. Hunt survives! Unbelievable! Miocic changes position as Hunt ties to get up. Miocic still landing hard shots. Short left hook lands for Miocic. Leg kick lands for Hunt. Miocic has found a home for his jab. An elbow lands for Miocic, and Hunt just misses with a big left hook. Miocic changes levels and gets a good take down. Miocic has Hunt on the cage, and Hunt is trying to stand back up. Needs to be careful not to give up his back here. Miocic on top of Hunt making all his punches count. Hunt does well to get back to his feet. A big right hand lands for Miocic, and a left and another big right! Left hook lands for Hunt. Knee up the middle lands for Miocic followed by some uppercuts. A big elbow lands for Miocic and the men clinch with Stipe in control with Hunt on the fence. Knees landing for Miocic. They break. Miocic initiates another clinch before breaking to land some shots. Hunt does well to avoid a take down. Hunt is very tired, and Miocic is forcing him to work.
