MATCH RESULT

FULL TIME: Bayern Munich 3 – 2 Barcelona, Barcelona win 5-3 on aggregate

It was a highly entertaining contest, and Bayern Munich fought right up until the end but the win was not enough to put them through to the final.

An early goal for Benatia gave Bayern some early hope, but that was all diminished shortly after but the young Brazilian, Neymar.

Messi and Suarez linked up to set a goal up on the platter for Neymar.

And then, shortly after they did it again to lead 2-1 and half time.

Bayern came back in the second half and went on to dominate the rest of the game.

Constant pressure finally payed off for them, as Lewandowski who was brilliant all game placed the ball in the bottom corner of the net giving the keeper no chance.

Thomas Muller did the same thing shortly after, as Barcelona looked like they went to sleep.

From there on in it was constant pressure from Bayern Munich, but they couldn’t find the net once again, and Barcelona were more than happy to slow the game down.

Bayern Munich get the constellation win, but Barcelona get the chance to win the Champions League against either Real Madrid or Juventus.

The final score from Munich, Bayern Munich 3, Barcelona 2, Barcelona win 5-3 on aggregate.

MATCH PREVIEW

Bayern Munich will be looking to make history as they host a Barcelona side that will have a three-goal advantage on aggregate. Join us on The Roar from 4:45am AEST for live scores and commentary on one the biggest games in football.

Currently riding a four-game losing streak, Bayern Munich will feel they will need a miracle to overcome an in-form and firing Barcelona squad.

Having lost their last three semi-final games in the Champions League, and all those loses coming against Spanish sides, the football gods do not seem to be in coach Pep Guardiola’s favour.

All hope is not lost for the former Barcelona manager, with Bayern Munich securing a 4-nil over Barcelona in their last home game against the Spanish side back in 2013. Another similar result would be enough to get them through to the final.

Bayern Munich have also managed to stay unbeaten against Barcelona in their last four European matches at home, and will be looking to put on the performance of a lifetime in front of their own fans.

Barcelona have been in incredible form as of late, having won their last eight in a row and finding the net 28 times to average an impressive 3.5 goals per game.

Luis Enrique’s men have also been on fire in their defensive line, and have managed to keep seven consecutive clean sheets.

Despite being in poor form away from home against the German side, the Spanish club will be confident they can dismantle Bayern Munich again and earn a spot in the Champions League final for the first time since 2010/11.

In the first leg between these two sides at the Camp Nou, it took Barcelona 75 minutes to break the deadlock through Lionel Messi. Just five minutes later, Messi would singlehandedly rip Bayern to shreds to score his second, before Neymar put the final nail in the coffin in stoppage time.

My prediction:
Every time a side has lead 3-nil in a knockout stage of the Champions League, that side has gone through. Barcelona will do all they can to not be the first to drop the lead, and most-likely find success on the counter.

Bayern Munich 0 – 1 Barcelona (0 – 4 aggregate score)

Can Bayern Munich make history and produce one of the biggest comebacks in UEFA Champions League history, or will Barcelona finally reach the final for the first time in years. Join us from 4:45am AEST to find out.
