Match result:

The Houston Rockets have produced a stunning come from behind performance against the Los Angeles Clippers to run out 119 to 107 victors in game 6 of their Western Conference semi-finals.

The first half of the game proved to be a tight contest, leading to the Clippers taking a slim 62 to 60 lead into the main break.

The third quarter was dominated by the Clippers with Chris Paul taking over, scoring 12 points and pushing the lead to 19 late in the third.

After scoring 21 points in the first half James Harden struggled in the third missing 7 of his 8 shots before taking a seat, with most onlookers conceding a Clippers victory.

A late 9-0 run by the Rockets to end the third quarter was ended when Jamal Crawford put another dagger into the wound by hitting a 3 to take the lead to 13 points.

With Harden sitting the entire fourth quarter the Rockets produced an incredible comeback led by Josh Smith, scoring 14 of his 19 points in the final quarter.

Corey Brewer was also pivotal bringing his trademark energy, running the floor, hitting 3’s and grabbing rebound to finish with 19 points of his own and 10 boards.

The Rockets outscored the Clippers 40 – 15 points in the term and pulled out an unlikely win, as a stunned Clippers crowd watched their team grind to a halt.

The Clippers were led by 31 points and 11 assists by Chris Paul and 28 points from Blake Griffin but again had little help from their bench.

Game 7 will be back at Houston on Monday (Australia time) with the winner of the game advancing to the Western Conference Finals.

The Clippers have the chance to win the series in their home building today and advanced to the Western Conference Finals.

If they pull it off it would be the first time star point guard Chris Paul has advanced so far in the playoffs during his glittering career.

Paul’s superstar teammate Blake Griffin has been balling out of his mind these playoffs, putting up stat lines that would make Lebron James proud.

James Harden was huge for the Rockets in Game 5, registering a triple double to lead the team to a 124-103 victory.

Harden will need to produce a similar effort today if the Rockets are to take the series back to Houston.

Dwight Howard will need to be aggressive in the paint and try to draw early fouls on DeAndre Jordan to get him off the floor.

The unheralded duo of Trevor Ariza and Corey Brewer will be vital for the Rockets chances today also. If they can fire they could tip the game in Houston’s favour as the Clippers second unit is thin on production.

Again we will see a Hack-A strategy employed by both teams, as the Rockets target DeAndre Jordan and the Clippers return to favour on Dwight Howard. It’s an ugly strategy but if either one can hit their free throws today it could also be the difference maker in the result.
