Sterling to City and related transfer business

By Ben Talintyre / Roar Rookie

Contract rebel Raheem Sterling is one of the brightest young talents in the English Premier League. Liverpool currently value Sterling to be worth €50 million and a host of top clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid are vying for his signature.

City in the past few days have had a transfer fee of €30 million rejected and although Liverpool are holding out for a bid in the region of €50 million, Manchester City will be hopeful that a bid of €40 million in the next 48 hours will be enough to tempt Liverpool to sell their 20-year-old star.

This bid for Sterling is part of their predicted major summer upheaval and City are reportedly ready to splash the cash in order to regain a prominent position in the league and a good showing in the Champions League after a bitterly disappointing 2014-15 season.

Along with the Sterling bid they have made offers for the French international Paul Pogba and are pursuing former Premier League player Kevin de Bruyne, who is currently rated around €30 million.

Their current focus is, however, to land Sterling with a personal contract of around €190,000 a week, which is almost double that of Liverpool’s offer.

For Liverpool they may decide to cash in on the contract rebel in order to generate funds for their own summer spending spree. They have already secured the likes of James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan on free transfers and they look like they have only begun their transfer business.

A player Liverpool are aiming to bring to the club is 21-year-old midfielder Mateo Kovacic who is known for his box-to-box midfield style and Liverpool have reportedly agreed a personal deal with the player with the transfer fee yet to be set.

Liverpool also plan to make a move to pip Chelsea for the Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao. Jose Mourinho made it known that he felt he could bring out the best in Falcao and bring him back to the top however the attraction of a starting spot could lure him to Liverpool with his desire to play consistent first team football.

In other news Barcelona defender Martin Montoya is on the verge of a €7 million deal to move to Liverpool as the 24-year-old’s future at Barcelona seems grim after the contract extension of Dani Alves in recent weeks.

What Brendan Rodgers chooses to do about Sterling is one thing but the demand for stars from Liverpool supporters is something known to all. This transfer window is likely to be eventful and Rogers will need to do some smart business to hopefully bring Liverpool back into title contention next season.

I say if they want 50 million for sterling they better replace him for someone bigger or better, whatever happened to that Walcott business? not saying he should sign him but, its just a thought

As a Villa fan, if LiverWho want 50 million quid for Sterling they must be willing to shell out 100 million quid for Benteke :) The Scousers better pull the moths out of Mr Henry's pockets

Yes separating a governing body from fine revenue would be unlikely! :) The penalties though must be wound back, its silly to enforce it when after such a short time they have admitted the whole FFP scheme was an epic fail. As many of us said all along....

Unlikely there will be a refund on fines. Already acquired 3 players that are not in any books stars but will build squad depth and enable them to hopefully splash the cash on a big name striker (Falcao, Lacazette, Martinez, Benzema ect....) This transfer window will likely be busy for Liverpool, United and City as all look to be title contenders again and Chelsea will look to cement their position at the top with further acquisitions to bolster their already strong squad

An entertaining transfer season again with FFP being wound back. Wonders if barca or psg get a refund on those fines and penalties? :) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/players/cristiano-ronaldo/11672629/Cristiano-Ronaldos-87m-move-to-Paris-St-Germain-depends-on-Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-and-FFP.html Hope Liverpool cash in on Sterling although they will probably blow the proceeds on a couple of mediocre players in return. Although Falcao would be good if they can get him, must be fired up after the false start at man united. A big year for the EPL clubs, their year next season in europe

Liverpool Value him at £50M not €50M, there's a big difference especially when we would have to pay QPR 20% of the final total. a straight swap with a good Spaniard or Brazilian would be better and then QPR get bugger all.
