Tsonga will need to shut down Ramos-Vinolas with his strong forehand and impressive physics. The Frenchman is one of the best players at net and while on a stolen extension backhand side he can hit the right the shots to make him a winner, passing it adding a little pressure. Tsonga has a huge chance at progressing to the third round, if he is struggling to defeat Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets he should try to stretch the game out to five to tire out the Spaniard.

Ramos-Vinolas needs to work on making Tsonga lose his confidence. Ramos-Vinolas will struggle to fight for four or five sets, so he will want to clear out his opponent in straight sets to progress to the third round. The Spaniard has the odds stacked against him and needs to execute all his shots perfectly.

Tsonga and Ramos-Vinolas have met once at Doha, 2012 where Tsonga won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. The Frenchman has a win-loss record in his past ten matches of 7-3 and is coming off of a five-set win over Muller 7-6, 6-7, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Ramos-Vinolas also has a win-loss record of 7-3 and is coming off of a win over Denis Istomin in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-3.
