Bernard Tomic has spent all of his adult life in the spotlight, yet in that brief time he has somehow managed to earn the ire of just about everyone in the world, from perennial good bloke to that angry guy on talkback radio this morning.

To rectify this injustice, we have compiled a list of compelling things about Tomic that will make every Australian admit they got it wrong. No doubt his phone will be flooded with texts asking him to come to the library, the golf course and your Nanna’s house for tea in no time.

1. He helps the community learn the lessons we need to

In January 2012 Tomic spent an entire day helping the Australian community learn about the dangers of speeding.

With barely a kilometre maid in sight, Gold Coast police showed the potency of their speed-camera technology by catching him three times.

He even paid the three fines issued to him by police!

He’s the hero we need, not the hero we deserve.

2. He is a man of humble means, character and taste

We’re not entirely sure what a car roof or sleeves cost these days, but young Bernard has seen through the facade and outrageous cost associated with both.

One thing he desperately hates, like most of us, is shirts. Just hates them. Refuses to wear them, even for jail portraits.

He also stays in penthouses, just to make sure no one else wastes their money on them.

Remember, kids, less manufacturing of parts means he’s helping the environment. #VoteGreens

3. He is a little hard of hearing, so you should feel sorry for him

A little-known fact about Bernard is that he suffers from a unique hearing impediment.

Umpires. Music. Law enforcement officers. These are the only sounds he cannot hear due to this rare and frankly confusing condition.

He has been accused of rudeness in the past, and even arrested for a noise complaint as a result of his tragic inability to detect the sounds emitted from these sources.

It’s clear discrimination. If we consider ourselves decent people it should not continue.

4. He loves nothing more than get among the locals

There’s no denying Tomic is popular with the fillies, but despite the exhaustive attention he receives he’s always willing to gift his adoring fans a twirl on the floor, often dancing himself off his feet!

Get around Bernie, lads.

5. He learns from his mistakes
