Nick Kyrgios has done it again. And this time, he’s sledging at an Australian cricket-level.

In this instance, much like many of the other tennis-related events Kyrgios has hit headlines for, the incident occurred on a tennis court during a tennis match.

But it wasn’t tennis, really.

Incase you were interested, that match was against current world number five, Stan Wawrinka, in the second round of the Montreal Masters.

The 20-year-old young gun advanced over Wawrinka with a 6-7 6-3 4-0 win after the two-time Grand Slam winner was forced to retire from the match with a back injury.

Kyrgios had made it to the second round after an impressive three-set win against world number 41 Fernando Verdasco to start the tournament.

Perhaps the most interesting development to emerge from that win was the impact that Lleyton Hewitt is having on two of Australia’s key emerging stars.

Hewitt was in the stands for Kyrgios’ win against Verdasco, as he works to mentor both him and Thanasi Kokkinakis.

It’s an arrangement that seems to make a lot of sense, and one that many Australians would agree is in the best interest of the future of tennis – what with all the semi-tennis-related incidents making us worried we’ve got another Tomic on our hands and all.

So far we’re not quite sure what the relationship means exactly, or where it will go. Kyrgios did make one thing clear though – the former world number one is not their new coach.

But that’s about the extent of it.

“He’s more of a mentor. Lleyton is very kind to take time away from his family and his career to help me and Thanasi (Kokkinakis).” Kyrgios said.

“We don’t know how long it will last but it is a great help.”

With Hewitt set to wind up his career at the 2016 Australian Open, it will be extremely interesting to see what role he plays in the development of Kyrgios and Kokkinakis over the coming years as they (hopefully) begin to really hit their straps.

But in the mean time, I must apologise, we have completely digressed from what Kyrgios has actually done!

The relationship between past and present tennis stars and how that may shape the future of Australia’s Grand Slam hopes can wait for another day.

Because today… Today Nick Kyrgios told Stanislas Wawkrinka that his mate ‘banged’ his girlfriend.

Here’s the video:

And how did Stan like it? Well, he’s fuming.

Speaking following the match, Wawrinka called for action to be taken against Kyrigos’ on-court behaviour.

While Kyrgios played down the situation.
