With the latest signature of Sam ‘Sauce’ Jacobs, along with securing the right coach for 2016, and the elusive signature of key midfielder Patrick Dangerfield, the Crows’ premiership window for 2016 is well and truly open.

Breaking down the side into the three key areas – backs, forwards and midfielders – it is difficult to spot many holes within the crows line-up.

Looking at the backline, the likes of Daniel Talia, Jake Lever and Luke Brown provide depth and talent, and, when combined with Brodie Smith, have been able to put on impressive defensive displays, shutting down top eight sides Richmond’s and North Melbourne’s forward lines.

Looking at the Crows’ midfield it is difficult to find a fault. The power of ruckman Sam Jacobs, who ranks number two in the AFL hit-outs to advantage and has more disposals than any other ruckman, coupled with the unwavering skill of Rory Sloane, Dangerfield and Richard Douglas, creates a midfield that is undoubtably one of the top three in the competition.

Captain Taylor Walker leads the forward line, backed by Josh Jenkins, the ideal second ruckman for Jacobs. When paired with small forward pocket players, such as Eddie Betts, whose name has been tossed around as the best forward in the comp, and Charlie Cameron, assisting the tall, marking forwards, it is obvious that the Crows have a great mix of valuable players.

Beating Richmond at Adelaide Oval in Round 19, followed by an absolute smashing of Essendon by 112 points in Round 20, it is evident that the Crows boys are starting to play for each other and have a strong grasp of the game plan.

These two games, followed this week by Brisbane Lions, West Coast (Round 22) and Geelong (Round 23), provide the Crows with an ideal end to the minor round, before starting September with a bang.
