Can the Gold Coast Suns finish their 2015 season on a high with an upset win over the Sydney Swans at the Sydney Cricket Ground? Join The Roar from 7:10pm (AEST) for live coverage.

A win for the Swans will go a long way to locking in a double chance for the finals, giving them the best possible opportunity of winning their third premiership as a relocated entity.

The Swans sit in fourth place on 60 points, surrounded by West Coast (second, 62), Hawthorn (third, 60), Richmond (fifth, 56), and Western Bulldogs (sixth, 56).

Hawthorn and the Bulldogs both faced lowly-ranked opponents – the Blues and Lions respectively – and should record massive wins. If the Swans lose occurs, the Bulldogs will likely leapfrog them and take their qualifying final spot. West Coast and Richmond meanwhile face tougher opponents – Port Adelaide and North Melbourne.

The Suns won’t offer much of a challenge to Sydney, sitting near the bottom of the table and waiting for 2016. The Gold Coast outfit have struggled with off-field dramas, and appalling on-field performances. Rodney Eade’s side will want to finish the year with a strong final performance, but will find it hard to match the Swans.

The Suns’ Nick Malceski squares off against his former club, but is down on form and fitness, averaging 16 possessions per game, down from 23 last season.

The Swans have won all of their five meetings since the Suns made their debut in 2011. This strong record includes a win in Round 10, 13.15 (93) – 5.11 (41)

Prediction
Sydney will claim a monster win to cement a top-four finish.

Swans by 73 points

FULL-TIME The Sydney Swans started strong with Isaac Heeney kicking things off by converting a set shot. Josh Kennedy soon followed after taking the mark inside 50 and putting the ball through the sticks for the Swans’ second goal. Dan Hannebery scored from in front of the sticks before Josh Kennedy grabbed his second. In one of the more embarrassing moments of the season, Brandon Matera missed on open goal with a shocking attempt at scoring. Dean Towers was next to score, converting a set shot from the left pocket before Harry Cunningham struck before the siren after a Brandon Jack handball saw him in open space to score. Tom Lynch was the first to strike in the second term, scoring the Suns' first goal, Trent McKenzie soon followed to put the Suns in the game. Charlie Dixon was the next to score, the Suns streak soon ended however as Kurt Tippett scored the Swans first goal for the quarter. Danny Stanley was next in for a goal, closing the gap between the two sides to 20 points. Harry Cunningham put the Swans further in front, only to be chased down by Jarrod Garlett. Sam Reid finally got on the board, hitting his first goal after three failed attempts earlier. Charlie Dixon took his second before the siren, the Swans led by 22 points at half-time. Tom Lynch was first to score a goal in a relatively quiet third quarter. The only other goals came the way of Sam Reid and Isaac Heeney late in the term. Adam Goodes was the first to score in the last quarter, followed by goals to Kurt Tippett, Sam Reid and Dean Towers before Trent McKenzie struck for the Suns. Dane Rampe kicked the Swans next goal, followed closely by Harry Cunningham and Tom Mitchell. Lance Franklin wrapped it up with a monster goal before the siren to secure a 63-point victory for the Swans. Sydney Swans 19.13 (127) Gold Coast Suns 9.10 (64)

Did the Swans go home after the first quarter? Disappointing that they haven't sent a strong message tonight. Sydney always has an average percentage because they do enough to win games but rarely do they consistently blow teams off the park for the full 4 quarters. They don't have an extra gear and that is a concern with the finals coming up
