2015 Moir Stakes: Racing live updates, tips and results

Petits Filous will look to remain unbeaten when she heads to Mooney Valley under Friday night lights in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m). Join The Roar before the race start-time of 9:45pm (AEST) for tips, mounting yard information and late mail.

Talented three-year-old filly Petits Filous starts as favourite after winning all four of her career starts.

She will carry just 51 kilograms, already has a win on this track, and her sectionals are good. But while this is a big step up in class, at just above $2.30 I am happy to take the risk.

Fonition is another three-year-old filly with four starts, winning three of those including one over track and distance here at Moonee Valley. Had some injury concerns but will be hard to beat at weights if fully fit. She is the second favourite in the race at around $4.80.

Angelic Light beat Lankan Rupee at this course in a 1000m weight for age race. Her trials have been okay, but if she can reproduce the form that defeated Lankan Rupee she might be value at $9.

Buffering won this race last year when the distance was 1200m. He has had 42 weeks off but the old war horse is full of class and Damian Browne on board means Buffering is a chance at $8.

Joe Pride loves to pump up his sprinters and Ball of Muscle could do damage. The five-year-old gelding has had 15 starts and never been out of the trifecta! His only Melbourne start was a second behind Hard Romp, while conceding 9 kilograms.

Honest sprinter Flamberge was no match for Chautauqua first up, and Barrier 12 could be the undoing here. He is the only runner after the previously mentioned horses that looks a serious chance, but with the barrier he is hard to take at $10.

Griante, Brook Road, Headwater and Rain Affair are the horses to watch in the rest of the field.

Tips
1. Ball of Muscle 2. Petits Filous 3. Angelic Light 4. Buffering

Heathcote: It was amazing performance from Buffering, Damian did what Damian does best, he broke on the corner and he is an 8 year old it's just wonderful. This is just a wonderful ride that Buffering has taken us on.

Petits Filous and Foniton goes as well, Ball of Muscle having a go on the inside and Buffering is up there as well. There is a gap to them it is Buffering around the turn and Foniton, Headwater running on, Who is that on the outside it is Angelic Light! No it's the old warrior Buffering who is just to good! His third Moir Stakes! He exposed the fillies! He beats Ball of Muscle and Angelic Light! Photo for third.

The track a firm 2 that throws everything out the window I think, Petits Filous the best backed Buffering a close second. Flamberge backed at the each way quote. Rain Affair looks beautiful. Petits Filous the pick of the yard for mine.

Joe Pride believes his runner has what it takes tonight with Ball of Muscle says he is comfortable leading or taking a sit, says he is rock hard fit and we will see whether his runner is up to this grade.

Moody saying Flamberge will be four deep and Duric needs to wing it. Ball of Muscle is fit as a fiddle and Angelic Light looks an absolute fiddle.

A lot of whispers around Fontiton but I just can't see it, Flamberge is looking nice I give him a chance tonight I am a fan. Le Bonsir not much love at $41 fixed at the moment.

Experts are staying Sterling City won't get involved in the speed, maybe better suited to a 1100 or 1200m race.

Some crazy odds being floated tonight in this race. Petits Filous is $2.40, Buffering coming in at $5.50 in the market. Ball of Muscle a mover into around $7.90. This just smells of an upset tonight. Something weird always happens under the Friday night lights. Buffering looks good for a fresh horse.
